Wick RNLI joins lifeboat crews and search and rescue organisations around the world in remembering two fellow volunteers who made the ultimate sacrifice while helping others.

Our thoughts are with the families, friends and colleagues of Bill Ewen and Frank Petsch of Marine Rescue NSW, who tragically lost their lives in the service of others.

As a mark of respect, RNLI stations across the UK and Ireland flew their flags at half-mast on Monday 15 June 2026, in honour of their dedication, courage and commitment to saving lives at sea.

Every member of the search and rescue family understands the willingness to answer the call, whatever the conditions and whenever it comes. Bill and Frank embodied that spirit of service.

We pause to remember them, to honour their sacrifice, and to stand alongside those mourning their loss.

Thank you to Harbour Chip Shop Wick who last night very kindly fed the volunteer crew from RNLI Kirkwall Lifeboat as they popped into Wick to take fuel as they passaged their Severn Class Lifeboat home from Inverness.

Your generousity is very much appreciated, crew 🚣 and boat 🚤 fuelled⛽️ with the finest fresh fish 🐟 and chips 🍟 enabling them to get home and get their boat back to what it is meant for! 🛟🆘️🛟

Our bottle stall is always one of the most popular attractions of the day, so we’d be incredibly grateful for any bottles you can donate.

🎁 Raffle Prize Donations
We’re also looking for prizes for our raffle – big or small, every donation is hugely appreciated.

If you’d like to donate but can’t make it along, please get in touch and we’ll happily arrange collection before Harbour Day.

As always, 100% of the money raised supports Wick RNLI and helps our volunteer crew continue saving lives at sea. ❤️💙

Our famous baking stall is always one of the busiest spots on the day, and we’d be incredibly grateful for any home-baking donations you can spare.

Whether you’re a star baker or just enjoy whipping up a favourite recipe, we’d love contributions such as:
