🏵We had a fun morning out with Newton Park Primary 1/2 last Friday planting primroses along the hedge line at Wick riverside.

🐌The pupils had keen interest in all the wildlife around them, spotting snails and ladybirds while they were busy planting.

🌿This forms part of a partnership project alongside Caithness and Sutherland Countryside Rangers and other community organisations to deliver biodiversity improvements around the riverside.

🌳The next phase will be to restore and extend the hawthorn hedging along the south path.

This project was funded by the Highland Nature Restoration Fund

📝Wick Community Development Plan📝

We need your input!

The Wick Community Development Plan is being built from the ground up, and the first step is finding out what the community actually wants.

We’ve had some great conversations at the market and through responses coming in online. Thank you to everyone who has taken part so far.
If you haven’t had a chance yet, there’s still time.

We will be at:

📍Tesco, Wick, on Friday the 19th of June from 10am - 4pm

📍Co-op, Wick, on Saturday the 20th of June from 9am - 1pm

Come along and fill in a paper copy of the survey, complete the Wick Window Hunt Trail, drop off completed surveys and trail leaflets and we can answer any questions you have.

The survey and the Wick Window Hunt Trail end on the 29th of June and are both available online

Completed paper surveys and window trails can be submitted to us on Friday 19th June at Tesco and Saturday 20th June at the Co-op, or up to the 29th of June at Wick Library and Wick River Campsite.

Pass this on to someone who hasn’t seen it yet the more voices, the stronger the plan.

This survey is about what we, the Wick community, can do together. We’re not asking about roads, NHS services, schools or buses. Not because those things don’t matter, but because this plan is about what we can do ourselves. Your answers will feed directly into projects that the Wick Development...

Thank you to everyone who visited us at the market today, and took part in the survey and Wick Window Hunt Trail.

It was great to hear your feedback on what you would like to see happen in Wick.

Couldn’t make it to the market? No bother.

Both the town centre survey and the Wick Window Hunt Trail are available online (links in the comments) — you can take part from home, or walk the trail at your own pace and submit your answers digitally.

The survey takes about 5 minutes. It’s about how you use the town centre, which empty buildings matter most to you, and what would genuinely bring you in more often.

Your answers feed directly into the Wick Community Development Plan — real projects that the Wick Development Trust and local groups can take forward.

Please complete the survey and trail by the 29th of June.

We’re at the market


We’re here at Wick market today from 11am - 3pm — come and find us.

What would you like to see happen with some of the key empty buildings in the town centre?

While you’re here, pick up a Wick Window Hunt Trail. It takes you on a 400-metre walk around 7 town centre buildings, with clues to solve and questions to answer. Complete all seven and you’re in the prize draw!

Surveys and trail forms can be returned here at the stall, or dropped off at Wick Library. Deadline for submission is the 29th of June.

Coming up…. the consultation

Wick Development Trust is launching a Community Development Plan for the town centre and we want to hear from you about what you’d like to see “through the window” in Wick Town Centre. It’s primarily about action on empty buildings and town activities.

We’ll be at Wick Community Market from 11am - 3pm on Saturday, the 6th of June, with surveys and a town centre window trail with a prize draw.

If you care about what happens to the empty buildings on the High Street, keep an eye on this page.

This stage of the consultation runs until the 29th of June.

Wick Riverside Lighting Improvements💡

Following the positive feedback on the riverside path network improvements, Wick Development Trust are currently looking into the installation of additional lighting along the riverside to increase its use in the winter months for walkers, runners, commuters and other activities.

We need to demonstrate to funders that the improvements have the support of the local community. We would be grateful if you could take a couple minutes to complete the survey and register your support.
