New Post: Shed Open Day – June 2024 https://buff.ly/3VMyUzm Thank you to everyone who attended our Shed open day at Whitworth Men's Shed last weekend. The event was a great opportunity to explain what sorts of activities go on at the Shed.

It was wonderful to be able to talk about what it means to our members to have such a valuable community resource on our doorstep. The Shed is open throughout the week delivering a variety of activities including practical and social sessions. It is an important place for local men to meet up for a brew and a chat. Wooden items including bird boxes, seasonal decorations, and garden planters made by shedders, were on display. We were also able to discuss various requests and ideas for bespoke orders.

Of course, tea and coffee were available, and Len, Ray and John (the members of resident Shed band 'Len Zeppelin') entertained with music throughout the afternoon!
Our grateful thanks to the local businesses who supported us by advertising our event. In particular the Whitworth Amateur Musical Drama Society (https://buff.ly/3xo9qz8) (WAMDS) for all of their help.

Guys, did you miss our open day? Don't worry, you can come down and find out more about what goes on anytime we are open (https://buff.ly/47hVMdB). You are always welcome to pop in for a brew and a chat.

If you would like to find out more first, please get in touch! (https://buff.ly/4b6bpG6)

New Post: Avro Heritage Museum Visit Planned https://buff.ly/3TCHOi8 Are you interested in experiencing some of our country's most iconic aircraft?

As part of our programme of talks and events, Whitworth Men's Shed are planning a visit to the Avro Heritage Museum in the near future. The museum is located on the former Woodford Aerodrome near Stockport in Cheshire.
The museum website (https://buff.ly/3VhvaGk) explains that The Avro Heritage Museum preserves the legacy of Alliott Verdon-Roe and his company A.V. Roe & Co (Avro). The site saw the production of famous aircraft including the Lancaster, Vulcan, Ni**od, and BAe 146. The Avro Heritage Museum is packed with fascinating exhibits and is home to the only example of an all-white Vulcan bomber. "
Even better, the Shed has received funding to subsidise these visits! The all-in cost will be £15 for the day. This will include entrance to the museum, travel to Woodford, and a buffet lunch in the museum café looking out at fantastic views of the mighty Vulcan bomber as it stands proudly outside.

As soon as we have sufficient reservations we will be announcing the date of this visit, but hurry! Minibus places are limited. Come and join our friendly group of like-minded men for what promises to be an interesting and enjoyable day out.

To reserve your place, or to find out more information call Gerald Hinchliffe on 07746 702 389. Alternatively, you can email [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])
