We are delighted to be able to welcome you to another exciting event showing off the best of Whittington gardening skills. There are a number of new gardens – as well as several that have been open before where you can see changes that people have made o

ver the last couple of years. As well as visiting the gardens please enjoy the ‘River of Flowers’ that we have created in parks like Swan Meadow and the Jubilee Orchard. A really exciting new development has been the replanting of the Whittington Wood by Osprey Close off Fisherwick Road which is a real must for your visit. Enjoy, too, the lovely troughs which dot our Main Street down the central spine of the village. And do stop for a while for refreshments in one of our charming village pubs – The Bell, The Dog, The Plough (Huddlesford) or the excellent Café on Main Street. This event is brought to you by Whittington and Fisherwick Environment Group (WFEG) and proceeds of the event go to our funds to enable us to undertake projects and activities to beautify the parish and encourage wildlife.

Jono’s Pick of the Weekend – Whittington Open Gardens🌸

We were thrilled to welcome Jono's Tourism for Lichfield, who spent a sunny morning exploring some of the 18 gardens and green spaces opening up in Whittington this Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 June.

From lush lawns to wildflower meadows, Jono captured just how varied and colourful this event is – a perfect walking (or driving) tour through one of Staffordshire’s prettiest villages. Expect manicured borders, mature trees, peaceful ponds, and even sweeping countryside views.

🚗 Car parking is clearly signposted, and your £5 admission includes a map and brochure (available at the Main Street Café).

🍰 Stop off for refreshments at the Main St Cafe or enjoy a drink in our two welcoming pubs – The Dog Inn Whittington and The Bell Inn, Whittington.

⚠️ Please note:
Not all gardens are open both days. Some may not be accessible to wheelchairs or powered scooters – details are in the brochure.

🌤️ With fine weather forecast and local charm in abundance, it’s no surprise Jono gives this a firm thumbs-up as a weekend must-see.

How does a wander through nearly two acres of botanical joy sound next weekend? 🌿

🍏 Crossroads is an early 19th century farmhouse, with a beautiful garden which is packed with:

🍎 39 heritage apple tree varieties
🍐 Rare pears like the Tettenhall Dick
🌼 Ornamental borders, woodland shade, wildlife ponds
🐝 Polytunnel, fruit cage & buzzing with life

This one's for the plant lovers, wildlife watchers and history buffs alike.

⚠️ Not suitable for wheelchairs (slopes & steps)
📍 A true countryside oasis

That would surely call for a glass of something chilled at Main St Cafe or where apples and pears are turned into something stronger perhaps, at our local pubs The Dog Inn Whittington The Bell Inn, Whittington The Plough
