Hello Whiteley,

It’s my Community Coffee drop in on Monday ☕️

Whiteley Town Clerk has kindly offered to host it for me, as I can’t be there.

There will be the usual drinks and biscuits on offer and friendly ear to listen.

So stop by Barn Farm Community Centre between 10 - 12. You could even have a game of table tennis 🏓 if you would like to.

During major sporting events like the upcoming men’s FIFA World Cup, emotions can run high and, for some individuals, alcohol use and heightened tensions can increase the risk of domestic abuse - reports of domestic abuse rise during major football tournaments (by around 25%).

The Hampshire Domestic Abuse Partnership (HDAP) is a group of local services and agencies in Hampshire, including Wi******er City Council, working together to provide help and support for:

• Victims and survivors of abuse, including children and young people
• People who may be hurting someone or using abusive behaviour
• Family and friends seeking advice
• Professionals

If you or someone you know is experiencing a domestic abuse situation, please contact the Hampshire Domestic Abuse Partnership Advice Line (run by Stop Domestic Abuse) via the advice line 👇

☎️ 03300 165 112

An online chat function is also available via the Stop Domestic Abuse website: https://stopdomesticabuse.uk/

☎️ In an emergency, please always call 999.

You are not alone. We encourage anyone affected to reach out for support and to put a safety plan in place. Confidential support and advice are available - now and throughout the tournament.

Good Afternoon Whiteley,

I’m delighted to share that today Whiteley Town Council Groundsman installed our new Happy to Chat plaque on the bench opposite the skate park in Whiteley.

Earlier this year, local resident Mrs Margaret Twiggs approached me about bringing this wonderful initiative to our community.

All of us at the Town Council would like to extend our sincere thanks to Margaret for her passion and support in helping make it happen.

The Happy to Chat initiative is designed to help bring people together and tackle loneliness by encouraging friendly conversations between people in our community. The plaque lets people know that if you’re sitting on the bench, you’re happy to chat with others who may be passing by.

Sometimes a simple conversation can make a real difference. Whether it’s sharing a story, making a new connection, or simply brightening someone’s day, this bench is here to encourage kindness, friendship, and community spirit.

If you’re passing by the skate park, why not take a seat and say hello? 👋

Thank you again to Mrs Margaret Twiggs for helping bring this initiative to Whiteley

Young people across Hampshire - we want to hear from you 💙

Created by our Youth Ambassadors, our annual Youth Survey is your chance to share what matters most to you.

Last year we had over 239 responses, and your feedback helps shape our services, informs local decision-makers, and contributes to conversations that can influence the future for young people.

Survey closes 30th June. Your voice matters. Make it count.

Hello Whiteley,

Despite the weather It’s been a busy and rewarding week working with some fantastic young people across our community.

I was invited to Cornerstone Church of England Primary School Whiteley as part of their Future Opportunities Week, where I spoke to Year 5 and 6 pupils about my role as an Accredited Community Safety Officer.

I also visited 2nd Whiteley Cubs, where we talked about my role, anti-social behaviour, and how to stay safe – particularly around areas such as the railway line and abandoned buildings.

Across all three sessions, the young people were incredibly engaged, inquisitive, and eager to learn.

They asked some brilliant questions throughout.

Here are just a few:

What is anti-social behaviour?

Anti-social behaviour covers a range of nuisance and criminal behaviours that cause distress to others. Whether something is classed as anti-social behaviour often depends on the impact it has on people.

Examples include:

Noisy or abusive behaviour
Vandalism and graffiti
Intimidation
Public drunkenness
Littering and fly-tipping
Illegal drug use
Excessive noise, including barking dogs

Is your body-worn camera on all the time?

No – it is not on constantly. If I need to activate it, I will always make people aware. It is used to capture evidence when necessary.

Why do you wear a red uniform?

I wear a red uniform as an Accredited Community Safety Officer with powers granted by Hampshire Police.

This helps distinguish my role from Police Community Support Officers (blue uniform) and Police Officers (black uniform).

Thank you to everyone who invited me along this week.

It’s always a privilege to support and engage with our young people and help them feel safe, informed, and confident.
