Eight years ago today, you changed our world forever.

You are the reason behind Together We Can Travel.

Like so many SEND families, we know just how overwhelming days out can be. Not because of our amazing children, but because of the fear of judgement from people who simply don’t understand. We know what it’s like to worry about stares, comments and feeling like you have to explain your child to the world.

That’s why these trips began.

We wanted to create a place where SEND families could travel together, feel accepted, make memories and simply be themselves without judgement.

Today, so many families have joined us on that journey, and it all started because of one incredible little girl.

Happy Birthday, Ophelia. Thank you for inspiring something so special. We are so proud to be your mammy and daddy and love you more than you’ll ever know. 🌈🤍

These trips are completely voluntarily organised and are not for profit. Every decision we make is with our SEND families at the heart of it. We never fill our coaches to full capacity, even though previous trips could have sold out twice over. Creating a comfortable, understanding and inclusive environment will always be more important to us than simply filling seats.

✨ Another fabulous coach trip today! ✨

We had a fantastic day at Gulliver’s World and, thankfully, the weather stayed dry for us all day! ☁️🌤️

Seeing all the children smiling, laughing and having the best time is exactly why we do this. It’s so lovely to watch families make special memories together and to see the children enjoying themselves without a care in the world.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a success. We hope you all had as much fun as we did!

🎢☀️ GULLIVER’S WORLD – TOMORROW’S THE DAY! ☀️🎢

We can’t wait to welcome everyone onboard for our next Together We Can Travel adventure to Gulliver’s World, Warrington tomorrow! 💙🌈

The weather is looking pretty good for us, with a mix of sunshine and cloud throughout the day and temperatures reaching around 19°C, making it perfect weather for exploring the park and enjoying the rides. 🌤️ A lightweight waterproof might still be worth bringing along just in case of the odd shower.

A few final reminders:

🚌 Whitehaven pickup: 8:00am
🚌 Workington pickup: 8:15am
🥤 Bring drinks, snacks and anything your family may need throughout the day
🧥 A light jacket is recommended

⏰ Polite reminder: Due to driver hours and our schedule for the day, the coach can only wait a maximum of 10 minutes from the stated pickup time at each location. Unfortunately, if you are not there within this time, the coach will need to leave without you to ensure we arrive at Gulliver’s World on time. Please allow plenty of time for parking and getting to the pickup point.

Sorry for the radio silence recently everyone 🤍

I voluntarily run these trips completely on my own, which means everything is organised behind the scenes by me — from planning and bookings to creating and finalising all the admin work, alongside running this page too ✨

All whilst being a mummy to my 2 girls and running my own business 🎈

We feel it’s important to share how coach company rules and driver restrictions directly impact the trips we organise.

Our coach company have always been fantastic with us and go above and beyond to help wherever they can. However, their drivers are only legally allowed to drive for a certain number of hours within a 24-hour period. Because of this, we have to strictly stick to the timings set for every individual trip.

This affects everything from pick-up points, toilet stops and departure times, right through to return journeys. When planning trips, we always try to make sure families have the maximum time possible at the destination, whilst also making sure the overall travel time is worthwhile.

This is also one of the reasons we keep pick-up and drop-off points limited.

If a driver exceeds their legal driving hours recorded on their tachograph, they can face heavy fines and may also be unable to work the following day. We can never allow this to happen because of delays, including families being late back to the coach or longer-than-planned toilet stops.

That is why we have a strict policy of departing at the times given for each trip.

To help with this, we always arrange for the coach to be open around 30 minutes before the return departure time, and we strongly recommend families return to the coach early if they need extra time to get everyone settled.

All outward and return journeys will leave at the advertised time. Unfortunately, there can be no exceptions. This is firstly out of fairness to the families already on the coach waiting, and secondly because it would be unfair for us to risk receiving a fine or for the driver to lose a day’s wage due to avoidable delays.

As harsh as it may sound, if you miss the bus, it will be your responsibility to arrange your own journey home.
