Whitegate WI Whitegate WI has 30+ members meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at Whitegate Recreation Room CW8 2BL

We are a vibrant group of women who enjoy the campaigning element of the WI alongside the talks and demos with a wide range of subgroups meeting inbetween (walking, bookclub, craft, singing, darts, keep fit, meals out and trips) . We have a varied programme of events arranged for the year, so please come and join us on the first Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm in the Recreation Room, Whitegate, Northwich, CW8 2BL.

Everybody loves cheese and we are so lucky to have a shop like The Hollies who supply a great variety of locally made cheeses, on our doorstep.

Becky from The Hollies came to our meeting this month where we were able to share some delicious Cheshire made cheese with suggestions for appropriate wines.

Thanks Becky for a really enjoyable and informative talk.

A lady from The Hollies will be coming along to our monthly meeting next Wednesday to tell us about their cheeses which we will be sampling at our Cheese 🧀 and W**e 🍷 tasting event.

Our talk this month was entitled "Lions, Owls and PTSD" given by Ian Daniells. He was accompanied by his wife Elaine and a few owls🦉 - thankfully no lions 🦁 (imagine cleaning up afterwards 😉)

Ian told us about his time in the 1st Royal Tank Regiment, his work after the Army, his PTSD and how he become involved with Lower Moss Wood Nature Reserve and Wildlife Hospital. He told us about some of the many creatures they have had through their doors and how they were cared for.

After his talk we met several of the owls and could have listened to Ian and Elaine all night recalling their many stories. Thank you to Lower Moss Wood for all that you do.
