Our talk this month was entitled "Lions, Owls and PTSD" given by Ian Daniells. He was accompanied by his wife Elaine and a few owls🦉 - thankfully no lions 🦁 (imagine cleaning up afterwards 😉)

Ian told us about his time in the 1st Royal Tank Regiment, his work after the Army, his PTSD and how he become involved with Lower Moss Wood Nature Reserve and Wildlife Hospital. He told us about some of the many creatures they have had through their doors and how they were cared for.

After his talk we met several of the owls and could have listened to Ian and Elaine all night recalling their many stories. Thank you to Lower Moss Wood for all that you do.

Quite a few of our darts group have been here recently. Very friendly and it was good to try a range of darts to see which suited best. There's enough time to practise with our new darts before the competition.

Our talk on 4th February is "Lions, Owls and PTSD" and will be given by Ian Daniells.

At our monthly meeting, we'll also find out some of the things that are being arranged for this year, alongside our usual sub-group meetings. We do have a wide variety of activities and cake is usually consumed 😋 - probably the only group where there is no cake is 'Keep Fit' 😉

Our darts group 🎯 are practising for the Vale Royal Group darts competition when we hope to retain the trophy 🏆 Last year both of our teams were in the final 👏

We meet on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:15pm in Whitegate Recreation Room CW8 2BL. New members are very welcome however why not come along as a visitor to meet us and find out more? There is a small charge for visitors, which includes refreshments.

A new year and it's going to be busy busy busy again at Whitegate WI.

Our darts group are practising in readiness for our upcoming competitions, one of our book groups is going out for afternoon tea, the craft group will be working on their own projects, the walking group will be meeting at Delamere Forest, our Dinner Ladies group will be heading to Middlewich, our Warblers have chosen songs from 'The Sound of Music' and 'Oliver!' If you're not out of breath even thinking about all that some ladies participate in Keep Fit every week.

As well as our own activities we join in with those organised by The Vale Royal Group.

We are also going to be planning our entry for The Royal Cheshire Show.

What a start to 2026 😊

We had a lovely time yesterday.

The ladies from our craft group were joined by other members at our wreath making session.

We wore Christmas jumpers 🎄, listened to Christmas songs 🎶, enjoyed home-made soup and scones 😋

👋 Come and join us at Whitegate WI. There's something for everyone....enjoy talks, walks, craft, bookclub, keep fit, singing, darts, trips out and meals out......make friends and learn something new!
We meet at 7.30pm on the first Wednesday of the month at Whitegate Recreation Room CW8 2BL for talks and demos with lots of subgroups, as mentioned above, in between.

At our meeting on Wednesday evening we enjoyed an informative and fun presentation on the history of bathing and soap making from Matthew of Tiger Muffin Soaps. Matthew also demonstrated how he makes soap, bubble bath and bath bombs, and members were able to take home a freshly made lavendar scented soap sample. There was also a wide selection of lovely handmade soaps and other bodycare products for sale, all made at the family business based in Formby.

Visitors and new members are very welcome.
Whitegate WI meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm, at Whitegate Recreation Room CW8 2BL. We also have subgroups that meet between meetings (walking, darts, craft, bookclubs, keepfit,) meals out and trips.

We had a great day at Whitegate Village Show on Saturday.
There were lots of lovely entries and a very good turn out of visitors in the afternoon.
Thank you so much to all those that helped, entered and came to visit! 😃
