We are looking for Activity Support Staff. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with compassion and commitment, a keen interest in older people and excellent teamworking, communication, social and creative skills.
Is this you? Read on.
Located in the heart of Whitby, The Trinity Centre is a social and activity centre for older people, some of whom are living with dementia. Our team offers services three days per week to promote social inclusion and help older people to sustain capacity and wellbeing through interaction and activity.
As a valued member of the activities and welfare support team, your role will involve:
1. Working with the team to develop a wide range of activities to interest our clients and keep them active, creative and socially connected. This could include arts, crafts, music, quizzes and puzzles, gentle exercise, storytelling and reminiscence.
2. Helping and supporting clients in the activities whilst monitoring their needs and general wellbeing.
3. Working remotely with clients who are not able to attend, keeping in touch through telephone calls, virtual meetings, etc, supporting activities delivered to their home, monitoring their welfare and identifying any emerging problems.
Experience of working with older people or vulnerable groups may be an advantage but is not necessary, as training will be provided. However, you will need empathy, patience, resilience and insight into the effects of loneliness and vulnerability. Your creativity and willingness to learn will be essential.
If this sounds like the role for you, please email [email protected] to ask for an application pack and perhaps arrange an informal visit to the centre. You can also call 07816 287878 to speak to Carolyn. Please note if you phone The Trinity Centre itself, the office has limited opening hours but do feel free to leave a message.
Hours: 20 hours over Monday/Wednesday/Friday. We welcome job-share applications.
Salary range: £9.50/hr.
Closing date for final applications: 12.00 noon on Tuesday 30 August 2022.
