Support Our Wonderful Community This Saturday!
St Mary the Virgin Church, Whickham, is holding its Summer Fair in St Mary's , Church Chare on Saturday 20th June from 10am–12 noon, and we’d love to see as many local people there as possible. It’s a lovely opportunity to support our local church, enjoy a morning with friends and neighbours, and celebrate the fantastic community spirit that makes Whickham such a special place. 🥰
There will be teas, coffees, cakes, raffles, stalls, children’s singing from Whickham Parochial C of E Primary School, and plenty more.
We’re also delighted that Planting Up Whickham has kindly been offered a stall where we’ll be selling raffle tickets for the chance to win a fabulous pair of Nina Ricci sunglasses, generously donated by Stewart Eyecare and worth £200. 😎
We will also have a few trays of plants available for sale at £5 per tray – first come, first served.

As you can see from the beautiful displays around our village green and planters throughout Whickham, Planting Up Whickham works incredibly hard to keep our village looking colourful and welcoming. What many people don’t realise is that this is achieved by just a handful of dedicated volunteers.
It’s always a challenge to cover the watering, weeding, deadheading and replanting, especially during the summer months. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in volunteering – particularly helping with evening watering – we would be extremely grateful. 🌺
We’re also looking for individuals or local businesses who may like to sponsor a planter or flower bed. Every contribution helps us keep Whickham blooming.
