🍎🌾 Harvest Week at PAWS! 🌾🍎

We’ve had a lovely week learning all about harvest, farmers and where
our food comes from!

The children enjoyed a walk around the village and picked apples from
a kind neighbour’s tree, created conker snakes, enjoyed harvest-themed
crafts and stories, and made our very own scarecrow, Stanley Straw,
who is now proudly keeping watch over preschool! 🎃🌾

We even had a go at making our own flour, crushing grains with rocks
and discovering how something so small can become an ingredient we use
every day.

It’s been a wonderful week of exploring, creating and learning about
the journey from field to fork! 🍏🌾

🐍🦎 Reptile Week at PAWS! 🦎🐍

What a fun and slithery week we’ve had exploring the fascinating world of reptiles! We’ve been learning about native snakes and lizards, where they live and what they eat.

The children have developed their fine motor skills by making play dough snakes and enjoying a Dough Disco, while also practising their scissor skills by creating twirling snakes. ✂️🐍

We’ve been getting active too, steering bikes and scooters along a wiggly snake trail and tackling our crocodile-themed obstacle course! 🐊🚲

Our Forest School adventures included working together as a giant snake, exploring the woodland, discovering birch bark, fungi and feathers, and using bug finders to investigate mini-beasts. 🌳🍄🪶🔍

We finished the week with a lovely woodland walk collecting conkers, ready to make our very own conker snakes! 🍂🐍

A fantastic week of exploring, learning, creating and having lots of fun! 💚

🌊🐠 A little day of seaside adventures! 🐠🌊

What a lovely day we had at the coast!

As part of our sea life topic, we headed off to Tynemouth Aquarium last week and the children were SO excited to see all the amazing creatures living beneath the waves.

There were lots of “wow!” moments as we explored the aquarium, spotted our favourite sea creatures and chatted about where they live and how they survive underwater.

We then headed down to the beach for a very important job — a beach clean as part of the Marine Conservation Society’s Great British Beach Clean.

The children loved getting involved and did a fantastic job collecting litter, while learning why it’s so important to look after our beaches and protect the wonderful sea life we’ve been learning all about.

We think we may have some budding marine biologists in the making! 🐠💙

🌿 What a wonderful woodland week at PAWS! 🌿

We’ve had a fantastic week full of exploring, learning and getting creative with nature! 🌳🐿️

The children have been learning all about woodland animals and their favourite foods, enjoying a woodland animal obstacle course and collecting nuts and berries along the way. 🦔🍂

We’ve also been developing our early maths and fine motor skills with our ‘Feed the Squirrel’ activity, matching numbers and feeding the squirrel the correct number of nuts. 🐿️🔢

Creativity has been a big part of our week too! We made natural paints from berries, created blackberry paintings using bubble wrap and used elderberry ink to make our very own tie-dye flags in Forest School. 🎨

And of course, we couldn’t learn about blackberries without some baking! The children made delicious blackberry and apple tarts — with plenty of tasting along the way! 🍎🫐

What a lovely first week back! 💚

We’ve loved welcoming everyone back, meeting new friends and settling into our routines.

This week we became wildlife detectives, exploring what lives around us and discovering clues from squirrels and birds! 🐿️🐦

We’ve also been making the most of the season, collecting blackberries and apples and turning them into splat paintings and apple prints. 🎨🍎
