Every stitch tells a story of courage.

Caps of Courage has now provided more than 5,000 free caps to children and young people undergoing cancer treatment across the UK, but requests from hospitals continue to rise every single week.

We urgently need more knitters, sewers and crocheters to join our amazing community of volunteers and help us continue covering heads and lifting hearts.

Whether you can make one cap or one hundred, you can make a real difference to a child facing cancer treatment.

Happy Earth Day, Whalley! 🌍🦁

Today, as we join the global community in celebrating our planet, we wanted to share a snapshot of how the Whalley & District Lions Club is working right here in our own backyard to make a difference.

Being a Lion means more than just wearing the vest; it means taking root in our community and growing a greener future for all our neighbour’s. From the soil in our allotments to the glasses we recycle, every action counts.

Here is how we are serving Whalley and District:
1. Community Allotment Guardians: We’re proud stewards of our local allotment, growing fresh produce and promoting sustainable gardening.

2. Reducing Food Waste & Gleaning: We work to ensure surplus food from local farms doesn't go to waste, getting it to those who need it most.

3. Tree Planting Partners: Adding to our local canopy to ensure cleaner air and a more beautiful village for generations to come.

4. Spectacle Recycling Leaders: Don’t let those old frames gather dust! We collect and recycle eyewear to support international eye care missions.

5. Litter Picking Champions: Keeping our village streets, parks, and riverbanks clean and beautiful.
