Last week we held a wonderful gel printing workshop in Sherborne for Refugee Week, exploring the theme of *Courage* through creativity, colour and connection.

Inspired by the beautiful cut-out work of Henri Matisse, the ladies created vibrant layered prints filled with expression, storytelling and bravery.

It was so lovely to welcome some new faces into the group and to see everyone relaxing, laughing, creating and supporting one another. There was such a warm atmosphere in the room and so much joy shared through art.

🌍 **International Women’s Day 2026** 🌍

Today at **Clearer Horizons CIC** we celebrate the incredible women who have been part of our workshops over the past 18 months.

Many of the women who walk through our doors have resettled in the UK after experiencing trauma, leaving behind homes, families, and the lives they once knew. Despite these challenges, they arrive with strength, courage, and a willingness to begin again.

It has been a privilege to witness so many women share their stories, build friendships, and rediscover their confidence through creativity. Through art, conversation, and community, they have trusted us with their experiences and allowed us to support them as they rebuild their lives in a country that was once completely unfamiliar.

This week we finished our sessions in **Taunton**, where an inspiring group of women came together to unleash their creativity. Through art they expressed who they are, shared pieces of their journeys, and represented themselves in powerful and personal ways.

Today we celebrate every woman who has taken part in our workshops — your resilience, your creativity, and your bravery inspire us every single day.

💜 **Happy International Women’s Day** to the women who continue to show that even after the hardest journeys, strength, creativity and hope can flourish.

🌍 Exciting times ahead in Weymouth & Dorchester! 🌸

We’re so thrilled that there are more and more multicultural events and activities for the ladies of Chickerell Camp to enjoy and be part of. One we’re especially looking forward to is the One World Festival at Borough Gardens, Dorchester — a FREE celebration of food, dance, crafts and culture from around the globe! 🎉

🗓 Saturday 9th August
🕘 9am – 4pm
📍 Borough Gardens, Dorchester

We’ll be there with a stall showcasing the ladies’ incredible embroidery, knitting and crochet skills 🧵🧶 and there’ll be a chance for you to have a go yourself! Come along, say hello, and celebrate the amazing diversity in our community.

🌟 A Brilliant Collaboration in Chard! 🌟

We recently had the pleasure of working alongside Abri Housing, one of the largest housing associations in the South West, on an inspiring project with their residents in Chard.

Abri’s mission to “create thriving communities and empower lives” truly came to life during our time together — and we were proud to play a part in it.

Over the course of the project, we:

✨ Empowered Futures – helping residents gain essential skills for both work and life
👥 Delivered 1-2-1 Support & Interactive Workshops – tailored to individual needs
💷 Supported the first steps towards financial independence and confidence

The energy, engagement, and commitment from the residents was incredible, and we left feeling inspired by the journeys already taking shape.

Thank you to Abri Housing for inviting us to be a part of this impactful work — and to everyone in Chard who took part!

Here’s to building brighter futures together 💪
