Good news for community and voluntary groups after a number of grants were agreed at our Finance and Government Committee on Wednesday. A total of £23,757 was awarded to support a range of projects and good causes, including:
💚 £775 to Merlin's Magic Wand Charity, a charity supporting children facing disability, illness or adversity, to complete the final phase of improvements to an existing sensory playground at Westfield College in Weymouth.
🙏 £4,850 was awarded to Refresh (Family Matters Baby Bank) to help with their expansion to make it more of a family centre, with more space to store donations.
⚽ SPARK Wellbeing Centre was awarded £5,000 towards refurbishing the football and basketball pen area, a well-used community sports facility near Southill play area.
⚒️ Sutton Poyntz Mission Hall Management Trust were awarded £2,884, which will go towards rebuilding the porch wall and its roof.
💙 £1,050 was agreed for The Bubble - Weymouth Community Space to provide suitable seating, and heating so people can attend activities throughout the year.
📖 The King’s Dip Project received £2,798 towards completing some of the work people involved in the project have produced, including a children’s storybook about Weymouth’s history, workshops and costume costs.
🥳 £2,000 for Wessex Folk Festival to fund a children’s entertainer over the two days of the festival, and two arches to provide a welcoming entrance to the event.
🌟 Weymouth Museum received £4,400 to invest in a range of materials and provide free children’s activities for an upcoming exhibition.
Two Service Level Agreements were also awarded to STEPS Club for Young People, and The Nest
