Dental Health Matters
“ There is a chronic shortage of NHS Dentists and people are suffering health issues as a result. The NFWI calls on the Government to increase investment in the training and retention of dentists and to review the current inadequate NHS contracts in order to ensure everyone can access an NHS dentist wherever they live. “
On 5 June, thousands of Women’s Institute members gathered at the Royal Albert Hall in London. After passionate speeches and a lively debate, the 2024 resolution passed with the support of over 95 per cent of Women’s Institutes.
Wetherby Women’s Institute are promoting this resolution by supporting our local Foodbank and providing dental care products

Thank you to Fiona Hudson for a very interesting and informative talk on British Sign Language. We all had a go at learning how to sign the alphabet and spell out our names. Such a worthwhile skill and brilliantly demonstrated.

Thank you to everyone who supported our Coffee Morning. Delicious home made cakes, scones, jams and marmalade - as you’d expect from the Women’s Institute! Beautiful crafts including hand made cards and knitted garments. If you’d like to find out more about us - we meet on the second Wednesday of the month at St James Church Centre at 7:30 we’d love to meet you!

some fantastic plants, books, jigsaws, crafts, a tombola and of course delicious home made jams and marmalade not to mention the home made cakes, scones and biscuits. Looking forward to seeing you.

Very successful Summer Coffee Morning. Home made scones, buns and cakes as well as home grown plants. The ever popular bookstall and the nearly new stall which offered some fantastic bargains. Thank you Wetherby for supporting us and looking at our 80th Anniversary display. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Today we received our 80th birthday certificate at the annual conference and had a lovely day celebrating 🥳

Due to the rising costs involved in the manufacture and supply of our WI products, we regret that there will be unavoidable price increases across our range effective from April 1st.

We will keep the increases to a minimum but would advise members to purchase before this date in order to take advantage of the lower prices.

The resolution results are in. The resolution with the most votes was Clean Rivers for People and Wildlife. All our WIs will need to vote on how they want their link delegate to vote at the NFWI Annual Meeting.
To obtain more facts before you vote why not join us for our Resolution Conference on Thursday 30th March? Closing date is on Monday so please book with Alice at the office asap. £10 per member. If you are a delegate you can claim this back from your WI.
As Yorkshire rivers are among the worst for sewage discharge, This is a campaign we will really be able to get behind. The WI has been campaigning on matters that are important to us and our communities since 1915 so let’s keep up the good work!

Yorkshire Water insists it is pumping less sewage into the Aire, the Calder and the Ouse.

A very chilly “Dickensian Christmas Market “ doing our bit to support Wetherby Lions, and also an opportunity to promote Wetherby Women’s Institute and raise some much needed funds. Despite the cold, as ever we enjoyed ourselves!
