Well, we have sort of managed to come down to earth a tad since WHFTA 2025 - HFT World Championships but needless to say the work never stops.
Before the event becomes a distant memory in our ever-busier lives we wanted to make sure we took the time to give both thanks and credit to those that made this event happen. But before we do, it is incredibly important to remember that this entire sport and events like this are built by a contingent of enthusiastic volunteers, without these people we lucky few wouldn’t have any tin chickens to shoot.
Where to start…..
Well, the courses of course (pun intended). To the Scottish and Misfits contingent that toiled, swore, grafted, schemed, planned, replanned and crafted two of the finest courses we have had the absolute privilege of shooting. From us at WHFTA and from me personally we cannot thank you enough for your ever-present enthusiasm, diligence and unwavering desire to produce something worthy of this event. Each and everyone of you represent what is good about this sport and I personally wish that your qualities could be mirrored in the wider world for it would be a better place if they were.
To all the other doers on the day, from Lady B, Lady J & Lady D for booking you in so politely and efficiently. To all the incredible Marshals and Course Vetters (Lady K & Sir H) that gave up their time to make sure we were all playing the game properly, to Steve who rallied and co-ordinated the Marshals so effectively, we all owe you an incredible amount of gratitude. To Steve in particular your communication and attentiveness was superb, and we thank you greatly.
Further thanks are required to the silent WHFTA helpers that are the real force multipliers of this event. I’ll not name them here as they know who you are, but I will say this, your enthusiasm and work ethic in the face of ever appearing problems is remarkable. You are the quiet professionals and the fact that no one truly notices you is testament to your abilities, rest assured we appreciate everything you’ve done for us and the wider HFT community, you are all rock stars! From me personally, you helped me keep level when f**kery was afoot, thank you for assisting in averting the effects of f**kery!
Without all our amazing sponsors this event would simply not be what it is. These guys owe us nothing yet give so much. Some people that are not part of the HFT community are owed a great deal of thanks from us all. The lovely folks at Borders Wood. Words cannot express how great these people are with us. One will struggle to find a better family and micro community. We have been humbled by the amount of work you guys put in to make this event happen, you are a credit to not only country sports but society itself. If more people were like you guys the world would be a far better place. Phil, Jane, your two young ladies, Tubbs and all your helpers keep being awesome!
Finally, thank you to all of you who attended this year. We are in awe that so many of you want to come flat pack tin chickens in the woods with us. Thank you for making our lives much easier by being generally just good well-mannered people. For those of you that weren’t, we feel sorry for you, and we hope you find solace within yourselves, manners don’t cost a thing! To the absolute majority, you are a credit to this sport and wider shooting sports, keep kicking arse!
