Tomorrow is the first of the free art days at Weston Artspace focuses on making art that will feature in the Climate Carnival as part of the famous Whirligig Festival by Culture Weston in September.

Looking forward to creating with you πŸŒπŸŽ¨πŸŒ±πŸ’š

Starting this Saturday FREE drop in creative workshops making props for the climate carnival organised by Super Culture and supported by Weston Artspace.

Come together for Weston’s Climate Carnival to show solidarity for climate action and shine a light on how creativity and community can play their part in spreading a positive message for a sustainable and hopeful future world. This year we will be celebrating what connects us and how we can work together to make change. The Climate Carnival leaves from Tropicana at 11am on Saturday September 9th and parades down the seafront in a community-led procession with a kaleidoscopic display of environmentally-themed carnival arts finishing at Whirligig at the Italian Gardens at 12pm.

I do think EVs are good for those who can afford them to make the switchand reduce our fuel emissions - but that is not the whole story and EVs are NOT the answer. Congestion, parking prioritisation, concrete and asphalt are all bad things, but the toxic pollution from tyres is harming people and the environment and EVs make no change to that issue.

We need to get cars off the road and build affordable, accessible, reliable and safe public transport for all.

Imperial experts are calling for more to be done to limit the potentially harmful impact of toxic tyre particles on health and the environment.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our events this weekend, hosted in partnership with Culture Weston. πŸ’š

You can still view the Dream Green Futures reel in the window of Weston Artspace for the next couple of weeks - local people submitted their hopes and dreams for a better, greener future we could share in North Somerset. Imagining a future you want is powerful - the future is not set, it is shaped by choices. You can make some choices that impact our shared future, and you can vote for politicians and legislature that support a positive future, for bigger impact.

Imagining is a form of planning. What sort of life do you plan to lead? What sort of future to do plan to make possible for your children, grandchildren, neices or nephews, etc?

Thank you again. I hope to be announcing our next project in the next couple of months..

The Green Futures programme that I have been working on with Culture Weston is confirmed for Friday October 28 and Saturday October 29! This is going to be a fantastic 24 hours of inspiring community-based climate awareness and action in Weston. We will be sharing the dreams of local people who imagine a great green future for North Somerset, and will be sharing opportunities to learn what is going on locally and how you can be involved in creating a future in which we'll all thrive.

Check it out - can't wait to see y'all. All the individual events have FB listings on this page and Culture Weston's page.
