Playbox is back on Friday for five frightful days of play!

We’re so happy to be able to provide another short burst of Playbox.

Five frightful days of play

Fri 23 to Tue 27 October, 12.30 to 4.30pm every day
The Back Field, 140 Pudsey Road next to Farrow Vale. LS12

Something spooky is creeping onto the Back Field. There’s free play for every age, from tiny terrors to grown-up ghouls, with all your favourite games plus a cauldron full of Halloween making.

Each day we’ll add a little more spook until the whole park is haunted. Pop in and stay as long as you dare.

Fri 23: Spidery & Spooky Pom Poms. Wind, snip and fluff up creepy crawlies to string across the park.

Sat 24: Tara’s Pop Up Photo Shoot. Come dressed to distress and strike your scariest pose for a ghoulish portrait.

Sun 25: Macabre Make Up. Stitches, scars and skull faces. Get a frightful makeover, or give one.

Mon 26: Terrifying Titchy Treehouses. Build a tiny haunted hideaway for bats, ghosts and things that go bump.

Tue 27: Potions, Wands & Enchantments. Brew bubbling potions, craft a wand and cast a spell over the park.

Free for all ages. Children do bring your older ghouls.

People in Farnley East told us they often feel forgotten about, particularly the older generation.

We were so proud to have funded a special event this summer, especially for over 50s, to make sure they had a voice in how we use Pride in Place Funding.

You may remember the iconic dancing from Mark Sewards MP

The level of appreciation and joy in the room on that day in August was incredible!

One couple said “we’ve met good friends we’ve not seen for years. It’s so nice to be with them and we will be keeping in touch”

To say a massive THANK YOU all the wonderful people who came along, and to keep these connections going, the Pride in Place Board voted to treat them to a Christmas lunch!

The Farnley East Christmas Extravaganza is on!

We want to extend a huge thank you to The Galleries Community Hub over in Armley. An absolutely stunning venue.

The have very kindly allowed the Pride in Place Board to make use their space today to lock ourselves away and work on our Pride in Place Plan.

This is a hugely important piece of work. It involves analysing everything YOU have told us to co-create a 10 year vision for change and how we will go about delivering it.

Our plan will be submitted to the UK Government in November. Assuming the Government approve of our plans, the next tranche of funding will follow and we can get going.

You can find out more about what we’re expected to include in the plan here:

Yesterday was the last Playbox session being led by Pride in Place and it was great. The weather was gorgeous and the commmunity police popped by.

We do have GREAT NEWS - the Board has commissioned Playful Anywhere to reopen the Playbox for you for another 5 days over half term! Look out for more info.

For now, it’s a huge thank you to;

🫶 the Playful Anywhere playworkers

🫶 Ollie and Harvey, our Pride in Place team at the council, for giving up so many evenings and weekends to facilitate this.

🫶 the Pride in Place Board members for volunteering their time - especially as the role is already busy and and they’re already juggling full time jobs or other commitments.

🫶 Most importantly - everyone who came to a Playbox session - we’re so grateful you showed up and mucked in!

We’ve met some lovely people, had a lot of fun, and also got an insight into the community that wouldn’t be possible without Playbox.

Sometimes you have to create time and space to have fun, play and chat. Give people a reason to get out of the house and then see what lights their fire.

And through 21 sessions we’ve dedicated over 70 hours of time to do just that!

We do have a brilliant community and we’ve enjoyed every minute. ❤️

We’re delighted to announce that Leeds Baby Bank has successfully secured funding from the Farnley East Pride in Place Board to purchase and distribute prams, pushchairs, cots and Moses baskets to families across the Farnley East area.

This funding will help ensure that local families have access to essential baby equipment when they need it most.

A huge thank you to the team at Leeds Baby Bank for warmly welcoming Rev’d Chris, Ollie and Harvey to their centre and for taking them on a tour of the fantastic work they do to support families across Leeds. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this project will make in our community. ❤️

One of the many positive impacts we have seen by hosting the Playbox, is how the children and young people love to help tidy up.

They really enjoy litter picking. We collected 21 bags of litter over 15 sessions at Farnley and already collected 5 bags in a week at Farrow Vale. So proud of our litter helpers.

We had another fantastic afternoon at the Playbox.❤️
