Two designers. One Play Day. Meet the creatives behind WR16: PLAY ‘s identity.

We return this Thursday Smile Bar & Venue and there’s still time to grab a last-minute ticket to hear from our superb guest speakers, Dani Molyneux aka DOTTO and Kyle Wilkinson aka KYLE WILKINSON .wilkinson.studio

For every event, we invite fellow creatives to interpret the theme and create its visual identity. This time, we asked TWO designers to collaborate and, naturally, PLAY together.

A huge thank you to and Maya Norman both from Huddersfield and currently studying at Loughborough University.

The pair took on the brief with a Play Day, exploring ideas together. Their take on the ‘Exquisite Corpse’ - a collaborative creative game - was the one we loved, and became the identity for WR16: PLAY. We’ll even be playing with it at the event!

From gallery walls to city streets. Meet Dani Molyneux.

We’re delighted to welcome Dani, aka Dotto (DOTTO ), back to the Wilson’s Republic stage for WR16: PLAY. 📣

A Manchester-based artist, designer and printmaker, Dani turns words from everyday life, lyrics and literature into expressive, handlettered art.

Her work finds its home wherever people gather - from arts venues and cultural brands to neighbourhood hang-outs. Spanning identity, editorial and public art, it helps places and people tell their stories and connect.

She also shares her experience with the next generation, mentoring through Adobe’s Creative Apprenticeship programme and judging on the Monotype jury for the D&AD New Blood Awards.

In two weeks, she’ll be sharing her creative perspective with us. Come along and see where a little PLAY could take you.

Artist, designer, Creative Director and founder of HAUS OF THRILLS. Self-proclaimed legend, too. We’ll let you decide that bit.

Kyle’s work moves between paintings, exhibitions, brand identities, installations and films. Trying to squeeze it all into one tidy category would rather miss the point.

Which makes him a fitting speaker for WR16: PLAY.

For our next event we’re pleased to welcome Dani back to the stage for WR16: Play 📣

Dani Molyneux, aka Dotto DOTTO is a Manchester based artist, designer and printmaker. She makes graphic type art for cultural brands, arts venues and neighbourhood hang-outs. Places where people gather.

Pulling words from life, lyrics and literature, she turns them into handlettered pieces that move between gallery walls and city streets. Her work spans identity, editorial and public art, helping brands and venues launch productions, products and places, connecting with their audiences and putting them on the map.

She’s judged on the Monotype jury for the D&AD New Blood Awards and mentors through the Adobe Creative Apprenticeship programme. Based at AWOL Studios, she works in your neighbourhood — across the UK, Europe and beyond.

We’re thrilled to announce the first of our speakers for our next event, WR16: Play 📣

@‌Kyle.wilkinson.studio is often described as an artist, designer, Creative Director, founder of HAUS OF THRILLS (KYLE WILKINSON) and all-round legend.

Working across art, design, music and culture, Kyle has spent his career building brand worlds and creating ideas for everyone from The New York Times to Mercedes-Benz and Mars. His work has appeared in Times Square, he created the 60th anniversary Mustang for Ford, and his recent work spans creative direction for JP Cooper alongside concept development for projects involving artists such as Elton John.

His work doesn’t sit particularly neatly in one box - spanning paintings, exhibitions, identities, installations and films, with a tendency to turn slightly ridiculous ideas into very real things.

Meet your Creative Bubble Facilitators 🫧

They’re not here to lecture you, judge your portfolio or sit silently while everyone delivers a polished introduction.

They’re here to listen, ask useful questions, share their experience and help get the conversation flowing.

Aidan, Kim, Darren and Katy each bring a different mix of creative practice, business experience and perspective to Creative Bubbles.

Between them, they’ve built studios, grown businesses, taught, mentored, collaborated, made difficult decisions, dealt with difficult clients - and experienced plenty of the same creative wobbles we talk about inside a Bubble.

Different backgrounds. Different perspectives. Plenty of creative experience between them.

Whoever facilitates your group, you’ll be talking to someone who understands the realities of making creativity your work.
