A glimpse into one of our projects from earlier this year.
We had the privilege of collaborating with Skipton Camerata to help launch their new season of music. The performance was conducted by the orchestra’s Artistic Director, Ben Crick.
The opening programme, Myth, was inspired by contemporary debates surrounding migration. At its heart was Arnold Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht, paired with a new choreography by Gavin Rees. Together, music and movement traced an intense and intimate journey from darkness towards understanding, bringing the evening to a powerful and moving conclusion.
Performed by dancers Jess Hull and Sasha Gunning, the work formed the centrepiece of Myth, a concert exploring the stories people tell themselves to make sense of real-life challenges.
The performance also featured an original projection by video artist Richard Laurence, transforming the architecture of Skipton Town Hall into an integral part of the artistic experience.
Founded in 2004 by Ben Crick, Skipton Camerata is North Yorkshire’s only professional orchestra. Its mission is to bring high-quality live classical music to communities with limited access to cultural provision.
