ICTU has called on the FAI not to fulfil Ireland's upcoming football fixtures against Israel.

Speaking after today's Executive Council meeting, General Secretary Owen Reidy said it would be "unconscionable" for Ireland to play these fixtures, and confirmed Congress's full support for the Stop the Game campaign.

"For almost three years, Israel has perpetrated a genocide against the people of Gaza, at a cost of over 70,000 lives, while ethnically cleansing the West Bank."

Sport has never existed in a vacuum. From apartheid South Africa to Russia after its invasion of Ukraine, there is clear precedent for sporting sanctions against states that breach international law.

FIFA and UEFA's failure to apply that same standard to Israel is indefensible. Their cowardice doesn't let the FAI or the Irish Government off the hook.

It shouldn't fall to young players to take a stand the authorities won't. The FAI must reach the same conclusion fans already have: this is unconscionable.

We've got some important and disappointing news to share with you.

After seven years alongside Bradford's creative community, BPH is entering a period of pause, and sadly, all of us in the staff team will be leaving at the end of August.

It's not the chapter we'd hoped to write, but we're determined to do this properly by honouring our commitments, finding good homes for our projects, and making sure the work we've built together doesn't disappear. We don't think this is the end of what BPH stands for, and we'd love your help shaping what comes next, starting with a hybrid public consultation event on 29 June - hope you can join us.
