🦢 Weeks 8, 9 & 10 at The Swan!

What a few weeks it’s been! The new kitchen is taking shape, with flooring, extraction, appliances, lighting and fittings all going in.

The community room is progressing too, while our amazing volunteers have been painting, gardening and cleaning to get The Swan ready for reopening on 1st October.

With just days to go, it was all hands to the pumps! A huge thank you to Baxtain, Ray, Phillipa and our fantastic volunteers for making it happen. 💚🦢

🦢 Week Seven at The Swan! 🏗️
and the kitchen is still open serving great food.

It’s really starting to take shape! Blewers delivered the remaining external cladding and the fireproof cladding is now finished and it looks fantastic!

Inside, the first fix continues, the accessible toilet has been tiled ready for the suite to be fitted and the new bin store area has been tarmacked. The old back door has been widened for wheelchair access, with a new floor laid in the rear lobby.

Meanwhile, Norman is back! He’s been joined by Ray, continuing the painstaking restoration of our historic windows with traditional timber repairs.

We are still open serving food while Phase Two is moving into first fix and there’s plenty happening!

Baxtain are plumbing and insulating the new kitchen, link building and accessible toilet, while Dave K is busy running electrical cables. Outside, fireproof boarding is going in ahead of the cladding.

Our volunteers Andy, Liz and Phillipa have been busy too, stripping wallpaper, removing years of paint

Looking Good for Tomorrow... Bank Holiday Entertainment

Although we don’t have any photographs of them this week, our gardening volunteers have been busy too!

They were at the Swan on Friday, sweeping, weeding and tidying the areas around the pub.

Their work meant everything was looking clean and tidy ready for the weekend and the Bank Holiday Monday, we expect the Swan to be busy we have Live Music, BBQ and Hog Roast. Join us at the Swan and its beautiful village green setting, from 1pm.

Week 5 Another Big Week for Phase Two

From the roof and skylights to the new accessible pathway, fencing, kitchen floor and insulation, Week Five has delivered another huge amount of progress.

Every week we can see the Swan changing and improving, and it is fantastic to watch this next chapter of our community-owned pub take shape.

A huge thank you to Baxtain, our contractors, and all of our wonderful volunteers who continue to give their time, skills and energy to make the Swan an even better place for everyone. 🦢💚

🦢 Week Four at the Swan 🏗️
Another fantastic week of progress at the Swan!
The link building is really taking shape, with the stud-work and roof now complete under the watchful eye of our volunteer architect, Steve Baker.

The new all-access path is also coming together, with block paving now linking the car park to the Swan. The new rear fence is almost finished too.

And a huge thank you to David Mason, who has now completed the restoration of the windows in the 1790s part of the Swan. His hard work over the past few months has made a fantastic difference!

🔊 A New Sound System for the Swan! 🦢
While Phase Two continues outside, one of our fantastic volunteer Dave Knutton has been busy installing a brand-new PA system inside the Swan.

Thanks to a Pub is the Hub grant, which covered over half the cost, we now have four separate sound zones — dining room, bar, drinking area and outside, giving us much greater control and flexibility for music, quizzes and other events.

A huge thank you to Dave for his countless hours, expertise and dedication. Another fantastic improvement made possible by grant funding and our amazing volunteers! 💚

Phase Two is moving forward at a fantastic pace! The Swan is OPEN as Usual we are still working from our old Kitchen

Our brand new used kitchen building arrived on two huge lorries and has now been positioned and bolted together on the foundations built by Baxtain. The link corridor and new accessible toilet are also taking shape.

🏗️ Phase Two Update at the Swan! 🦢
Baxtain have been working flat out in the hot weather! The footings are in, drainage and blockwork are complete, and we’re now ready for the new kitchen building to arrive.

Meanwhile, our brilliant volunteers David Mason and Mark Jones have been busy restoring the ground-floor windows, stripping, repairing and repainting them.

It’s all starting to take shape — and looking fabulous! 💚🦢

🏗 Phase Two – Week One Complete! 🦢
What a fantastic start! Our volunteers and the team at Baxtain have cleared the site, demolished the old buildings, clearing the garden, removing the walk-in fridge and prepared the area for construction. The asbestos roof has been safely removed and disposed of by a team of experts, the foundations have been excavated and we're now ready for the concrete to be poured in Week Two.
