🚒 Do you want to make a real difference and inspire young people? 🚒

West Bromwich Fire Cadets is looking for Trainee Instructors to join the team!

🔥 Help deliver fun, safe, and engaging training
🔥 Mentor and support the next generation
🔥 Gain leadership, teaching, and development skills
🔥 Give back to your community
🔥 Ongoing training with opportunities including national events, remembrance services, competitions, and social action activities

No previous instructor experience is needed — full training is provided.

🗓 Commitment: One evening per week (Fridays, 6–10pm), plus occasional events
📍 Location: West Bromwich Fire Station

Youth Organisations in Uniform West Midlands (YOUWM) is looking for a talented young volunteer to join our growing Digital Team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world experience, develop highly sought-after digital skills and help shape the future of one of the West Midlands’ most exciting youth charities.
We’re looking for someone who is confident using Microsoft 365, can create and manage databases, has experience with SharePoint, can design professional email signatures and enjoys using Microsoft Power Platform tools to improve the way organisations work.

At the same time we are developing a new, more inclusive and youth-focused website and want to bring this fresh, creative feel into our wider digital presence. Your ideas, creativity and understanding of what appeals to young people will be highly valued.
In return, you’ll work on projects that have a genuine impact on thousands of young people across the West Midlands, build a portfolio of meaningful experience and have your volunteering formally recognised as work experience for your CV, college, university or future job applications.

If you’re enthusiastic about technology, creative problem-solving and want to be part of an ambitious charity that is growing and developing across the West Midlands, we’d love to hear from you!

Amazing day for an incredible group of young people who all volunteer their time to support communities and save lives .

Here’s what Cadet of the Year Tyler had to say about their day at the palace :

“Trooping of the Colour was such an unbelievable opportunity, a day full of fun, laughs and joy by all cadets and youth leaders alike. It was such an honour to be able to attend such a prestigious event especially during my year as County Cadet of the Year for Warwickshire and Coventry, to be able to represent cadets from across the whole county. It was such a phenominal experience and it was lovely to be recognised for my dedication to St John Ambulance.”

Once-in-lifetime opportunities don’t happen without the Youth Leaders who make them happen 🌟 Adult volunteers play a vital role in supporting and inspiring our Young People to exceed their own expectations and the achieve futures they dream of!

Matrix Academy Trust ‘s Flying Officer S Kendall is no exception, giving up his time to volunteer for Combined Cadet Force .

Here’s what he had to say about their time at the Colonel’s Review and the opportunities CCF provides to learn outside of the classroom.

“Attending the Colonel’s Review ahead of Trooping the Colour was a truly memorable experience and a privilege for our cadets and staff. The professionalism, precision and sense of tradition on display were outstanding and provided a powerful reminder of the values and standards that underpin service to our nation.

As the Senior School Staff Instructor for Matrix Academy Trust Combined Cadet Force, I am incredibly proud that our young people have opportunities to witness events of this significance. Experiences such as the Colonel’s Review bring history, leadership and citizenship to life in a way that simply cannot be replicated in a classroom.

Matrix Academy Trust is one of the largest academy trusts in the Midlands, serving thousands of young people across multiple secondary schools. Through our Combined Cadet Force programme, we aim to provide cadets with opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork, resilience, confidence and a strong sense of service to their communities.

Events such as the Colonel’s Review demonstrate to our cadets the importance of commitment, discipline and pride in representing something bigger than themselves. They also allow young people to engage with British heritage and ceremonial traditions whilst gaining valuable experiences that will support them in education, employment and life beyond school.

For many of our cadets, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and one that will undoubtedly inspire them for years to come. We are grateful to all those involved in making the experience possible and for continuing to support opportunities that help young people realise their potential”

Corporal’s Review of the Colonel’s Review ✈️💂

In honour of the Kings Birthday , Youth Organisations in Uniform West Midlands was joined by an incredible group of young people from Combined Cadet Force Matrix Academy Trust. Matrix Academy has a strong Royal Air Force CCF of impressive young members who wear their uniform with pride.

Corporal Bell who represented the CCF at the Colonels Review shared with us her Cadet experience ;including the day as a highlight within development journey so far :

“Taking part in the Colonel’s Review was an incredible experience and one of the highlights of my time as a CCF RAF Cadet.

I particularly enjoyed being able to watch such a prestigious national event live and having the opportunity to represent my school and contingent with pride.

Through CCF, I have been fortunate enough to develop my confidence, leadership, teamwork, and self-discipline, as well as take part in a wide range of opportunities that I would never have experienced otherwise.

These have included ceremonial events, community activities, regional camps, and working alongside cadets from across the Matrix Trust and beyond.

YOU West Midlands has played an important role in helping young people access these opportunities. Colonel’s Review and Trooping of the Colour was a truly memorable experience, and I am grateful for the support and opportunities that YOU West Midlands provide to young people across the region.”

This month 100s of young people from Uniformed Youth Organisations joined Youth Organisations in Uniform West Midlands & YOU London at the Colonel’s Review and The Trooping of the Colour to Celebrate the Kings Birthday.

🪖 Meet Corporal Loveen Birdi a dedicated Army Cadet who’s ready to step up, speak out, and represent her peers on the 2025 Youth Council.

Loveen first joined the Army Cadet Force to meet new people and connect with others who shared her interests. Four years later, she’s grown into a confident and committed cadet who is ready to say yes to every opportunity that’s come her way.
During her time in the Army Cadets, she has had the incredible experience of attending the Trooping of the Colour in London, as well as competing in the Military Skills Competition, where her Company proudly secured second place in 2025. These opportunities have helped her build resilience, teamwork, and pride in representing her unit.

Now, Loveen wants to take the next step.
“I want to join the Youth Council to step out of my comfort zone and make a positive difference for other cadets — helping to make their experience even better.”

By putting herself forward for the Youth Council, Loveen is showing that leadership is all about leading by example with the courage to try something new, speak up, and work to improve things for everyone around you.
