🌿 Step into Lydford's past and discover the stories hidden in our parish! 🌿

It's been 20 years since the Parish Hall was renovated and we warmly welcome everyone to join us on Saturday 20 June for *Lydford's Tales, Nature and Trails* - a morning of local history, nature and community.

Take part in a guided heritage walk through the parish, explore fascinating local history displays in the Parish Hall, or enjoy family-friendly nature activities in the Forest Garden. If you'd prefer not to walk, there will also be a live video link from the hall so you can still enjoy the experience.

Afterwards, stay for a bacon roll, a hot drink and a chat with friends and neighbours.

Whether you're a long-time resident or new to the area, we'd love to see you there. It's a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the place we call home and celebrate the Parish Hall's role in bringing our community together.

🎉 SPECIAL 20TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT 🎉
We’re marking 20 years since the hall was renovated, and have It's It's been 20 years since a team of volunteers renovated the hall and brought it back to life. To mark the occasion we have planned three celebration events across the summer.

🎉 SATURDAY 20TH JUNE 🎉
🌿 “Lydford's Tales, Nature and Trails”

There’s something for everyone:
🚶‍♂️ A 90-minute guided history walk through the parish
📚 A local history display in the hall
🌳 Children’s activities in the Forest Gardens for those who prefer to stay and play
📺 A live feed from the walk back to the hall so everyone can share in it
☕ And afterwards… bacon butties and hot drinks to enjoy

It should be a relaxed, friendly day meeting new friends and old, and celebrating our village, our stories, and our wonderful hall 💛

There’s a lovely full programme of community events happening this June at the hall, from wellbeing and crafts to film nights, gardening and more. As always, everyone is very welcome 😊

☕ Welcome & Pop-In Café – a friendly space for a chat, hot drinks and delicious homemade bakes
🎨 Scrapbags Craft Group – sociable textile crafting and creativity
🎶 Sound Bath with Gemma – a relaxing evening session to unwind and reset
🏛️ Parish Council Meeting – all welcome to listen in and be involved
🌿 Lydford & District Gardening Club – this month featuring Abigail Williams speaking on “Trees for All Seasons”, a fascinating look at year-round trees
🎬 Moviola Film Night – Friday 5th June
We’re delighted to welcome Moviola back with the powerful new film Hamnet, starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal. A moving story inspired by the life of William Shakespeare’s family, exploring love, grief and loss in a beautifully told adaptation.

A quick apology from me, this month has flown by faster than expected, and I’m a little later posting this than planned. Thank you for bearing with me.

Here’s what’s happening at the parish hall this month:

🧵 Scrapbags
Our friendly sewing and crafting group continues to welcome new members, whether you’re a seasoned maker or just curious.

🧘 Yoga with Jill
A calm, welcoming class suitable for all abilities. A lovely way to unwind.

☕ Pop‑In Café
Drop in for coffee, home bakes, and a chat. Always a warm, sociable morning with neighbours.

📚 3rd Tuesday Group
All are welcome this month (£3 per visitor) as we will hear about the Wells Mosaic Project on Tuesday 21st.

There’s always something happening at the hall and this summer, we have something extra special to look forward to.

🎉 Celebrating 20 Years Since the Hall’s Renovation – Save the Dates

We’re marking this milestone with three community events, and we’d love you to join us:

🌿 Saturday 20 June – Lydford Tales, Nature & Trails (from 10am)
A gentle Saturday morning wander exploring the history and of the village, and children's activities in the Forest Garden.

🎪 Saturday 11 July – Family Fun Weekend (Sports Ground)
We’ll be there promoting the hall and our user groups, please come and say hello.

🎉 Saturday 25 July – Celebration Day (from 4pm)
An afternoon and evening to bring everyone together and celebrate 20 years of community life.

Join us this Friday for THE CHORAL at 7.30pm at the Parish Hall.

Doors and bar open at 7pm, come early, grab a drink, and enjoy a catch‑up with friends.

Starring Ralph Fiennes, The Choral is a beautifully crafted, uplifting drama about music, community, and the courage to start again. A perfect feel‑good Friday film to start the weekend.

There is Tea and Talk in the Parish Hall 3.30pm this coming Sunday, 19 April, when we have a representative from MAF, Mission Aviation Fellowship coming to speak. MAF are the largest humanitarian air operator in the world carrying relief supplies, doctors and medical equipment into unaccesable areas of the world, either due to disasters or topography.

Do come along and hear of the work that they do.

A chance for everyone to hear updates, share ideas, and help shape the future of our parish. Whether you’ve lived here for years or you’re new to the area, your voice matters and you’re warmly invited to take part.

☕ Tea & Talk – with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF)
Sun 19 Apr, 3.30pm

This month we welcome a speaker from Mission Aviation Fellowship - a humanitarian air‑service charity that uses small aircraft to reach remote communities around the world.
They support medical evacuations, deliver essential supplies, and connect isolated villages with doctors, teachers, and emergency aid.
It’s a fascinating glimpse into life‑changing work happening around the world.

🧵 3rd Tuesday Group are holding a Craft Night
Tue 21 Apr, 7.30pm

A relaxed, friendly evening of crafting and conversation. There'll be a couple of demonstrations but bring your current project or simply come along for inspiration and a chat. All ladies are welcome.

🎬 Moviola – The Choral
Fri 24 Apr, 7.30pm

This month’s Moviola film is The Choral - a warm, uplifting British drama about a community rediscovering hope and connection through music.
Tickets are available in advance from Linda F, with any remaining seats sold on the door. There will also be a cash bar, so you can enjoy a drink while you settle in for the film.
A perfect feel‑good choice for a spring evening.

Hi everyone 👋

You’re warmly invited to our Annual Parish Meeting at the Parish Hall on Wednesday 8 April at 7pm.

As well as a chance to hear updates on what’s been happening in the parish, many of our fantastic local social and community groups will be there to share what they’ve been up to over the past year.

It’s a great opportunity to find out more about what’s going on locally, meet people, and raise any ideas or concerns you’d like discussed.

There’ll also be wine and nibbles 🍷🧀

All residents are very welcome — it would be lovely to see a good turnout!
