If you are out shopping at Tesco's in Penicuik between now and the end of March, please consider dropping a blue token into the Scottish Outdoor Education Centres section of the Community Grants vote. We have supported a number of local schools and community youth groups to attend Broomlee using our bursary schemes, and grants like this will help us to continue doing that in the future. Just a small glimpse into our Holiday Club fun at SOEC Dounans and SOEC Belmont this Summer. The young people have been busy laughing, learning, and taking on new challenges.

📸 We’ve only captured a few moments throughout the summer, most of the time we were too busy making sure they were having the best time! Loads of skills gained, memories made, and confidence boosted.

Yesterday SOEC Broomlee hosted a delegation from the Education, Children and Young People Committee who were gathering evidence for the proposed Residential Outdoor Education Bill.

This is an important opportunity for all of Scotland’s Young People.

Our CEO, Jamie Miller, was recently in the Scottish Parliament providing evidence in support of Liz Smith MSP's Bill; Ensuring that young people have the opportunity to experience residential outdoor education, fully funded by the Government.

Jamie was joined by Nick March (Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres), Phil Thompson (Ardroy Outdoor Education Centre) and Freda Fallon (Outward Bound).

It is great to see the outdoor sector working together to ensure high quality outdoor and residential experiences for all young people in Scotland.
