As World Cup kicks off, we’ll be cheering on the home nations and celebrating everything that makes football bring people together.
But we’re also supporting Women's Aid campaign.
Research has consistently shown that incidents of domestic abuse increase during major football tournaments. Domestic abuse is never caused by football, but for some survivors, match days can bring heightened risk, fear and isolation. Research has found that reported incidents increase when England play, whether the team wins, loses or draws. (Women’s Aid)
At It’s Not Gossip, we believe looking out for one another should be part of every community. If you’re celebrating the football this summer, check in on friends, family members and neighbours. A simple message can make more difference than you realise.
We’re proud to stand alongside Women’s Aid and support campaign. If you’d like to get involved, we’ll share details in our stories and Linktree.
Football should be a source of joy for everyone.
