It is said that every minute of every day Rotary will touch the lives of millions somewhere in the world. By combining their skills and resources, members of Rotary are able to make a real contribution to the lives of others. In our local community, we have raised tens of thousands of pounds for communities at home - eg CHAS, Age Concern, West Kilbride Primary, CLIC Sargent Homes, the West Kilbrid
e Boys Brigade; and abroad – eg La Tiar Edna home in Sao Paulo, Drinking Water in Africa and Rotary’s global End Polio Now Campaign. Members also volunteer their time - supervising community events such as the annual Beach Clean run by the Civic Society, running projects aimed at promoting the achievements of young people (West Kilbride primary school music and photograph competitions), West Kilbride Citizen of the Year award and supporting Rotary’s educational programmes. The members also have fun in participating in all their Rotary activities, have made many new friends and enjoy an active social calendar. Because Rotary is found in more than 200 countries and regions worldwide, we are in the unique position of being able to reach people in need all over the planet, from running life-changing projects in developing countries to making an immediate response to disaster-hit regions. In addition, Rotary also has its own charity - The Rotary Foundation - which funds the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty throughout the world.
