⚡ Council grant helps power a fantastic adventure for 1st Wem Scouts!

Earlier this year, Wem Rural Parish Council awarded a grant to 1st Wem Scouts to help purchase a solar generator – and it has already been put to great use.

19 young people recently headed to Cheshire for the week-long international “Chamboree”, joining around 6,000 people for activities, a Scout-chella festival and a conservation day at Chester Zoo.

The new solar generator helped power their cool box and marquee lighting, as well as keeping leaders’ power banks charged for emergencies – all topped up using solar panels throughout the week. ☀️🔋

It’s great to see how the Council’s grant funding is directly benefiting local young people and supporting their adventures.

A huge thank you to everyone who turned up for the quiz last night and to The Castle Wem team for their hard work, from the bar staff to Dee for the half time chips and not forgetting the marvellous quiz master Rich!
We raised a fabulous amount which will go towards improvements to the building.
