As one of our team -Zoe played football in the Deaflympics 20 years ago this struck a cord with us. It was great to see the sport and the event talked about on GMB this morning. Let’s hope they raise the money to get to Tokyo! Good luck team GB!

We are urgently looking for volunteers in certain areas of the UK who can help us train the next generation of hearing dogs, like wonderful Woody.

Here are 5 useful things to know about becoming a volunteer dog trainer:

1. You don’t need experience as each of our volunteers are fully trained and supported by one of our local dog training instructors.

2. We cover all costs for things like food, bedding, insurance, vets etc.

3. We arrange and provide all holiday cover for the pup when you want to go away.

4. You’ll attend fun weekly puppy classes and meet likeminded people

5. You’ll change a deaf person’s life.

The role is perfect for people who are retired or who might have time at home. We are unable to accept applications from people who work full time, due to the amount of time needed to train a young dog to become a hearing dog.

Good advice about travelling if you have tinnitus.

With the summer holidays approaching, many people will be flying home to see their loved ones or to go Abroad, but those who suffer from tinnitus may have an uncomfortable experience while flying.

Most people with tinnitus do not experience any problems whilst flying. If there is any adverse effect, it is likely to be only minor and temporary.

For a more comfortable flight, you can:

- Avoid using earplugs during a flight. When you seal out background noise, your tinnitus may become more noticeable.
- Sit in the front of the plane where the engine noise isn’t as loud. Anywhere in front of the wings should be quieter.
- Leave your hearing aids in place as you may find them particularly helpful during a flight.

You can find more tips and information on how to make flying more comfortable with tinnitus on our website (link in comments)
