She was also a motoring writer and self published a delightful personal motoring history entitled

The collection forms part of Connections, another part of which is the railway memorabilia exhibition charting the history of the splendidly named The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway Preservation Co. Ltd , shortened to W.L.L.R (www.wllr.org.uk)
The line closed in 1956, but was revived by a group of narrow gauge railway enthusiasts and reopened in 1982.Trains run almost all the tear round see website for timetables. There is plenty of parking and the charming little town centre is reached by a ten minute riverside walk.

A snapshot of Audi models in the first decade of the 21st century and a rather larger display of Le Mans and GT cars are just two of the additions to our museum in recent times. We are open on Saturday and Sunday this weekend between 10.30am and 3.30pm. Trains are running on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway and there is Lego-based family fun to be had in the Connections visitor centre at Llanfair Caereinion where we are based. Why not pay us a visit?

The news we have been waiting for! After eight months behind closed doors, Cloverlands will reopen this weekend! The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway refurbishment work to the building in which we are hosted has reached a stage where the railway’s Connections Visitor Centre and ourselves can welcome the public again.

Andrew, Natasha and Ian have been in the museum today tidying up ready for Saturday We still have a lot to do and will be continuing our development programme ahead of an official opening ceremony for Connections in July. We ask visitors to bear with us as some cabinets will be temporarily unoccupied while we update the displays.

We hope to generally be open between around 10.30am and 3.30pm at weekends and potentially some weekdays. However before visiting, especially if you are travelling a long distance, please check this page for the latest information. We look forward to hopefully seeing you soon!

The slow march of progress continues! The Le Mans and GT cabinet is looking more impressive each week, Andrew having completed the middle shelf today and sorted some essential lighting.

Elsewhere the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway contractors are working hard on the entrance to Connections and Cloverlands to ensure we are able to reopen as planned on 23rd May. Watch this space for more news.

Finally we’d like to thank the anonymous donor who has made a significant contribution to the museum’s funds this week. Such donations are always welcome and appreciated but particularly at present, having been closed for a full half season with no visitor donations coming in. Thank you.

Ian, John and Andrew have been busy in the museum today.

Ian focused on relocating the Bugatti collection of our late Trustee Max to its new home, freeing up the wall it was formerly on to eventually provide the access to a third display room.

John has been finishing off the frames for the two large-scale cars of our founder Gillian, the two now occupying an elevated position under the Story of Cloverlands wall display.

Meanwhile Andrew has been continuing with the enhancement of our collection of Le Mans and GT race cars, in a new and much more viewer-friendly cabinet. As the pictures show it's beginning to look quite impressive, especially the top shelf of Le Mans winners. Another shelf still to lay out and lighting to fit yet.

We still hope to be reopening in some form at the end of May though redevelopment of our displays will continue during the season, governed as ever by finance and volunteer availability. Watch this space for more news!

Steady progress in the museum today - our founder Gillian’s smallest models are now all back together in a new and more easily viewed location, and we are beginning to stock our new and much better display cabinet of Le Mans and GT cars.
The new locations for our largest models are nearing completion too - but still loads to do before we reopen, hopefully at the end of May.

Today in the museum we have started repopulating the cabinets of our founder Gillian Rogers, that we had to empty before the exterior revamp took place. They include lots of early Dinky, Corgi and Matchbox vehicles.

When we started our museum redevelopment back in the winter of 2023-24 these cabinets were carefully laid out by our Trustee Max Tomlinson, who was married to Gillian at the time of her passing in 2021.

Sadly we lost Max at the end of 2024. We were very careful to photograph the interiors of the cabinets before we emptied them so we can put them back exactly as Max did them, as they are also now a tribute to him.
