PROMISEworks PROMISE𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴 supports the volunteers who provide a county-wide mentoring service for young people and children aged between 5 and 25 years in Somerset

PROMISEworks supports volunteers mentors across Somerset who help young people and children aged between 5 and 25 years who are experiencing difficulties, they may be vulnerable for many reasons, often having struggled from a very early age. The programme targets those most at need in Somerset. Mentors make a minimum 2 year commitment to the young person they support with many relationships lasti

ng much longer. Together the mentor and mentee build a trusting and secure friendship and build on the young persons strengths through shared experiences. "It is not only possible for one human being to make a real and lasting difference to another, it is often the only thing that ever does"

What would Somerset look like without local charities? Today, PROMISEworks is proud to join Spark Somerset’s campaign to highlight the critical role community organisations play every single day.

We asked ourselves a simple question: What impact are we making right now?

📊 152 active mentoring relationships currently taking place

⏰ 1,824 mentoring hours delivered just last month

🎓 242 young people who have successfully graduated from our programme

Behind every statistic is a young person who found someone to stand alongside them—listening, encouraging, and helping them see what they are truly capable of.

Our volunteer mentors give their time and care to help young people build resilience, boost self-confidence, and make positive choices for their futures.

It shows what’s possible when a young person has someone in their corner.

Our Mentors and Mentees had a fantastic time taking part in a range of workshop activities—creating opportunities to learn, explore, build confidence, and most importantly, enjoy spending quality time together.

Experiences like these are so valuable to our Mentors and Mentees, helping to strengthen relationships and create positive memories that can last a lifetime.

Sometimes, the simplest words say the most.

One of our PROMISEworks mentors recently shared this reflection about his experience, and it perfectly captures what we do.

Mentoring isn’t always about having all the right answers or making big changes overnight. Sometimes, it’s simply about showing up, spending quality time together, building trust, and forming a genuine connection.

Describing that time together as a privilege reminds us just how meaningful mentoring can be—for both the young person and the mentor. ❤️

At PROMISEworks, we believe that the most powerful thing you can give a young person in Somerset is your time, attention, and belief in them.

A HUGE thank you from all of us at PROMISEworks! 💙

We would like to say a massive thank you to https://www.chardrock.co.uk/ for choosing PROMISEworks as their charity. Your support means so much to us, and we’re incredibly grateful for your generosity. 🙌

The festival was not only a fantastic weekend, but also a wonderful opportunity for us to share more about PROMISEworks and the work we do with a whole new audience. It was brilliant to meet so many people, have conversations about our work, raise awareness of the difference our Mentors make, and hopefully introduce PROMISEworks to people who may not have heard of us before. 💙

A huge thank you also goes to Tesco Chard, Tesco Langport, Sainsbury’s Chard, and our amazing Mentors for your incredibly generous tombola donations. 🎁 Your kindness and support helped make the weekend such a success.
