💚 Children of Foster Carers’ Week | 12–18 October

This week, we’re recognising the children and young people who are part of fostering families. 💚

When a family welcomes a child into their home, it can bring changes for everyone — including the children who were already part of that family. They may share their space, their parents’ time and the ups and downs of family life in ways that others don’t always see.

It’s important that their feelings, experiences and needs are recognised too. Every child deserves to feel listened to, valued and supported. 💚

At PROMISEworks, we believe in the power of positive, consistent relationships and the difference that understanding and support can make in a child’s life.

For a young person facing challenges, having a reliable adult in their life can make a world of difference.

Family can mean different things to everyone. For children and young people who have experienced care, consistent relationships, connection, and a true sense of belonging can be transformative.

At PROMISEworks, our mentors are there to build trusted, long-term relationships with young people across Somerset—offering encouragement, a listening ear, and a safe space to be themselves.

Today is a chance to celebrate the people who show up for us: whether that’s family by birth, family by choice, trusted mentors, or the wider network of adults who care.
