DSAA is a charity providing relief from sickness and injury with an air ambulance. Our Critical Care Team are operational 19 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Together, with your support, we can be there for patients today, tomorrow and in the future. Official page for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. We receive no direct funding from the Government or the National Lottery and rely on the generosity of the public for support. Our life-saving Charity has to raise over £5 million a year to keep our helicopters flying and critical care team responding. Our approximate cost per mission is £3,000. With your help, enthusiasm and commitment, we can continue saving lives across the Dorset and Somerset.

What if you were the one who could restart a heart?

When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, every second counts. Knowing how to recognise a cardiac arrest, call 999, start CPR and use a defibrillator could help keep someone alive until specialist help arrives.

At Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, we are passionate about strengthening the chain of survival across our communities. Through our Life Support initiative, we offer CPR awareness sessions and support communities to install life-saving defibrillators.

Our Life Support Team are offering free CPR sessions for Restart a Heart Day to help you gain confidence in performing early life-saving interventions. Feel free to drop in at any time.
Here's where you can join us:

Friday 16th October at Tesco Extra, Unit 4-5 Queensway Pl, Yeovil, BA20 1DL. Find our stall by the opticians. We will be there from 09:00am to 4:00pm.

Saturday 17th October at Falkland Square, Poole. We'll be there from 11:00am to 15:00pm.

A routine journey home turned into a serious motorcycle accident. What followed was a multi-agency emergency response involving the Ambulance Service, Devon Air Ambulance (DAAT), and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA).

Alex McRandal suffered life-changing injuries after a motorbike collision which triggered a rapid multi-agency emergency response. His wife Louise kindly shares what happened that day and the impact it has had on their lives since.
