Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance DSAA is a charity providing relief from sickness and injury with an air ambulance. Our Critical Care Team are operational 19 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Together, with your support, we can be there for patients today, tomorrow and in the future. Official page for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. We receive no direct funding from the Government or the National Lottery and rely on the generosity of the public for support. Our life-saving Charity has to raise over £5 million a year to keep our helicopters flying and critical care team

responding. Our approximate cost per mission is £3,000. With your help, enthusiasm and commitment, we can continue saving lives across the Dorset and Somerset.

The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance team had a great day on Monday at Cornwall Air Ambulance HQ, collaborating across the Air Ambulance network on CPR and defibrillator awareness.

Cardiac arrest can happen at any time, and every minute without intervention reduces chances of survival by 10%. Our aim with DSAA Life Support is for members of our community to have the confidence and skills to deliver these early life-saving interventions.

DARE to BARE is here. 🏊

This August, we’re inviting women to take on something truly different – a bold, empowering open water topless swim with a powerful purpose.

Women are less likely to receive CPR in an emergency.

Hesitation around chest access can cost lives.

That’s why we’re Daring to Bare.

Join us on Sunday 23 August at the stunning Vobster Quay Inland Diving Centre for a sponsored swim for women raising vital funds for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance while helping break the stigma around CPR.

Bare your chest. Break the stigma. Save lives.

Today is 🩸

Every blood donation has the power to help save a life.

Since 2016, our critical care team has carried blood products on board, helping improve outcomes for adults and children suffering severe trauma or significant blood loss across Dorset and Somerset.

A huge thank you to the incredible volunteers at Devon Freewheelers EVS. Their support ensures we receive vital blood deliveries every 48 hours or even sooner when urgently needed.

If you’ve ever thought about donating blood, now is the perfect time.

One moment, Judith was out walking her dog in a remote field near Edington. The next, she had suffered a serious ankle injury and needed urgent medical help.

With no easy road access, our crew responded to provide critical care at the scene before she was taken to hospital by land ambulance.

Now recovering from surgery and intensive physiotherapy, Judith has shared her story and her thanks to everyone involved in her care.

New report calls for safeguarded 24/7 on-site hospital helipads across UK major trauma centres & specialist hospitals

The APPG for Air Ambulances has now released a major new report on hospital helipads and their role in emergency care. Hospital helipads are critical NHS infrastructure that support the
rapid transfer of patients into specialist treatment.

We need your support to help gain Government attention on this issue.

Air Ambulances UK

Over half of major UK trauma hospitals don't have 24/7 on-site helipads, meaning air ambulances often have to land off-site and delay urgent care. I just signed the petition to fix this—will you add your name?
