Hi all!

The next Mythic Fathers dads gathering is on Wednesday 13th May, 7-9pm. If the weather is good it will take the form of a story walk around meadow and along the Dulas Brook, followed by a hill top fire, with the yurt as a rainy day back up.

The space is open to all dads (new dads, experienced dads, dads-to-be, foster dads, stepdads… you get the idea). Each month I tell a myth or folktale and we use that as a jumping off point to chat about what it means to be a father - the good parts and the more challenging parts- with other dads. We also eat soup, drink tea and have plenty of time to connect.

Let me know if one of this month’s spaces is for you.

Best wishes, Marcus

I hope the beginning of 2026 is treating you well. January is a time where there can feel like a lot of pressure to make big changes in your life and to start big projects. However, if we look to the earth and the rhythms of the rest of nature, the message is very different. When we listen to the la...

Dads!

Ill be hosting the final Mythic Fathers of 2025 in the Storytelling Yurt next Wednesday 10th December. As ever I have a great story bubbling away and there will be warming soup and old stories around the hearthfire.

Let’s make this final one of the year a good one!

We will have a break for January to settle into the new year and be back in February 2026.

Also for you dads not in the area, I’m thinking about doing some online Dads story work next year - if you are interested in being part of that then send me a message or drop a comment here and I’ll keep you in the loop.

Hi all, especially the dads here.

I’m hosting the next Mythic Fathers Dads Group this coming Wednesday evening.

Each month I tell a story and we use it as a jumping off point to chat and share our experiences of being fathers.

It’s a great space to come together intentionally with other dads, chat over soup and tea and hear a good story.

Please do share this with other dads in your life!

Send me a message if you’d like to join.

Best wishes,
Marcus

A massive thank you to everyone that came to Rock Meadow Storytelling Day on Saturday.

It rained and it poured, then it rained a little bit more, but despite that so many people joined us to be warmed by stories and make it a great day.

Jan and I had a great time sharing stories in the yurt, and finally answered the conundrum - how many people can fit in there, and the answer was a lot - at least 50 adults and children.

Thanks to those that shared a story around the Bardic Fire (despite the lack of fire and the drumming of the rain!) and for all the delicious food that people made for the pot luck.

A real feast of food, story and community. Now we are enjoying the return of the sun for the pack down!

Jan and I have already been plotting our next collaboration - so watch this space for news of a Storytelling Retreat and more Community Days like this one.

See you arriving a fireside soon for some myth and magic!

Hello Story Lovers!

I want to invite you all to a very special event I’m putting on on Saturday 20th September at our home in Herefordshire, our first Rock Meadow Storytelling Day, which we hope to make an annual thing.

I’m going to be joined by the one and only Jan Blake, who is one of the most sought after and incredible storytellers there is, who will be bringing her unique mix of African and Caribbean stories to the wilds of the Golden Valley.

Over the afternoon Jan and I will be telling stories, hosting a story walk and there will also be a storytelling fire, where you will be invited to tell a story if you so wish, so please do bring your stories. We will also have a plant and toy swap, a plant-based pot luck and a chance to explore our nature restoration project and wild winding garden.

If you’re coming from further away, tents are welcome, or you could rent our bowtop caravan or spare room (the cabin has already been snapped up!)

Here is a link and poster for the event. Please do share it with others and I hope to see you there!

Hi everyone!

I hope you’re enjoying your summer! I’d like to invite you all to our Storytelling Day at our place Newton St Margarets on Saturday 20th September that Maria and I are hosting.

I’m excited to say we will be joined by the internationally acclaimed Storyteller Jan Blake, who some of you may know from her work on the BBC’s Musical Storyland with the BBC Philharmonic orchestra, or from her award winning storytelling shows for adults.

We will kick off with a pot-luck picnic and then Jan and I will be telling stories in the afternoon, leading a story walk through the meadow, holding a Bardic Fire for you to bring your stories. There will also be a plant swap/ toy swap.

If you’re coming from further afield tents are welcome - or ask me about renting our bow-top caravan, garden room or a bell tent for night/ weekend (the cabin has already been snapped up!)

We’d love for you to join us for a magical afternoon of story.

I hope you can make it 😊 🔥
