🎉This is part 2 of our Meet the Repairer series, up next - Dave! 🛠

Back in 1978, Dave did a 5 year toolmaking apprenticeship at Rolls Royce. He’s always had practical skills and still has a workshop to this day. For a long time, Dave was the development engineer of a London design consultancy, so he's done a lot of 3D CAD and development work. These days he is an on and off freelancer, has a few 3D printers and mostly makes things for fun. Dave joined the Repair Cafe when he realised his skill could be a good fit.

Thanks for joining us Dave!

Leave us a comment if you have any questions about volunteering at Watford Repair Cafe, maybe you could be next!🙋

🎉This is Part 1 of our Meet the Repairer series, up first is Tricia!📿🧵

When Tricia was small, her mother used to hate things getting broken or worn out. From an early age she was encouraged to repair and mend clothing, toys, or anything else that came to hand to save items being thrown away or replaced. They had horses for many years so Tricia also learnt how to repair horse rugs and some minor leather work as well.
About 20 years ago, Tricia discovered making small items of costume jewellery and beading which she loved. Unfortunately, she had to stop for several years due to her eyesight but cataract operations have solved the eyesight problem and she’s very grateful and happy to help out at the repair café alongside a team of people with numerous complementary skills.

We're grateful for you too Tricia!

We have the best repairers at the Watford Repair Cafe with the most amazing backgrounds and skills, who will we meet next?🤔

So keep an eye out for our Meet The Repairer series introducing you to the amazing folks sharing their skills with the community to help give new life to the things we love!

In the meantime.. 2 important questions!

- what kind of cake do we need to have for our birthday?! 🍰

Do you have IT and computer skills 🖥💻? Are you interested in volunteering?
If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

Watford Repair Café is looking for potential volunteers to run a Linux Repair Café. Maybe you are already a Linux user and want to show others how to use and install their free operating system or maybe you are very confident with computers and with some basic training would be able to learn how to help others to install it.

If you are interested, or know someone who is, please get in touch with us at [email protected]
