James, Clinical Paramedic Specialist in our Hospice at Home team, took on the Lake District Ultra Challenge in June, walking 50km across some of the UK's most challenging and scenic terrain, raising £1,000 for Rennie Grove Peace.

He said: ”The challenge was one of the toughest and most rewarding things I’ve ever done.

“There were moments when my feet were aching and the finish line felt a long way off, but the atmosphere was incredible.

“Crossing the finish line after 50km was an amazing feeling. Every hill, blister and very soggy sock and boots was worth it.

As a Clinical Paramedic Specialist with Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, I have the privilege of supporting patients and families through some of the hardest days of their lives. Whenever the challenge became difficult, I thought about the people we care for and the difference these funds will make. Knowing that every step could help more patients and their loved ones receive compassionate care and dignity at the moments they need it most gave me the determination to keep going.”

💜Feelings of grief and loss can come from anywhere, not just bereavement. They could come from health changes, identity shifts, relationship breakdowns, or employment changes.

If you are experiencing grief or loss of any kind, and would like to connect with others and explore creativity as a way to express and move through it, we are hosting a Grief Gathering, in collaboration with Thrive Dance.

Taking place on 14 July at Peace Hospice in Watford, this is a calm, supportive space to explore grief and loss with people who understand what you are going through.

🎨 The session will include simple, creative activities which you can take at your own pace, such as painting, collage, sculpting, drawing, writing and more.

This Father’s Day, we’re remembering the dads who will always hold a special place in our hearts.

When Johnny’s dad, Richard, was cared for by our Hospice at Home team, he was able to spend his final weeks where he wanted to be most – at home with his family.

“Being at home in his last few weeks meant everything to Dad. We were able to all spend his last Christmas together as a family and he was there for my brother’s birthday – two days when we know he was incredibly happy.”

These precious moments became lasting memories for Johnny and his family.
