🌞 Solar Eclipse: QUESTION 🌞
Can we pray the solar eclipse prayer given it'll occur around Asr beginning time? If someone prays it first then prays their Asr prayer, is this fine?
*ANSWER*
Any form of nafl prayer is severely disliked after one has prayed the ʿAsr prayer. As long as a person has not prayed ʿAsr, nafl prayer is allowed even after ʿAsr begins.
Since the time of the solar eclipse is around the beginning time of ʿAsr, one should pray the solar eclipse prayer first before praying ʿAsr. The solar eclipse prayer should not be prayed after praying ʿAsr.
The solar eclipse prayer is an emphasised Sunnah (sunnah mu'akkadah). It can be prayed alone, although it is preferred and recommended (mustaḥab) to pray it in congregation. It is to be prayed like any other nafl prayer. A person can pray 2 units or more. There is no adhān, no takbīr (iqāmah), and no loud recitation. One should engage in duʿā after completing the prayer until the eclipse passes.
