On Wednesday, our CEO, Linda McIntyre, spoke at a roundtable discussion organised by Watford MP Matt Turmaine on the NEET (Not in education, employment or training) crisis.

This crisis has raised concerns after the recent Milburn Report found that nearly 1 million young people (16-24) are unemployed or not in school or training.

Other guest speakers included MP Lilian Greenwood (Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Department of Work and Pensions), who shared how the issue is being addressed nationally.

The event brought together a range of local employers, educators and organisations to discuss how we can work together to help young people to find opportunities and to continue to develop their skills.

We are on the last stretch of raising money for our new forklift truck!

We would like give a big thank you to all our generous supporters, with their help we have raised almost half of the cost of our new forklift truck! 📦

We were amazed by how we reached our initial goal of £3000 within 2 weeks and are now hoping to raise the whole cost of the forklift.

Our forklift truck has reached the end of its life after 24 years!

It is an essential part of the workshop; it is used daily to help move goods, as well as to train adults with disabilities to operate it.

It will cost us £9,750 for a new forklift truck. We have currently raised an amazing £3,255, with thanks to our generous supporters, and we are now hoping to push to reach the whole amount.

Our Trustee Director and fundraising volunteer, Ronnie and his wife, Philippa, received an exciting invitation to the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, which they attended last week. 💂👑

They share what happened at the event, from the King arriving and greeting people to getting the chance to speak to the Princess Royal, Princess Anne.

This magical event is something they will never forget and they are proud to have been invited, after being nominated by The Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, for the incredible voluntary work they have done for the Workshop over the last 11 years. 🙌

At Watford Workshop, we see every day how meaningful work, friendship and routine can positively impact mental wellbeing.

For many of the adults we support, having a safe and inclusive place to learn new skills, build confidence and connect with others makes a real difference to their mental health and overall wellbeing.
