World Mental Health Day is an opportunity for us to take a moment to think of our own mental health, and if you're struggling, you're not alone. Taking the first step and speaking to someone about how you feel can be hard but we want to remind you that support is available. If you need support visit: https://wellbeinginfo.org/self-help/mental-health/crisis/ for more information or you can contact:
- Samaritans for free, confidential emotional support and a listening ear service on: 116123
- Shout is a crisis text service which offers in the moment support for times when life gets overwhelming and you need some immediate support. πŸ“² You can text SHOUT to 85258 any time day or night to be connected to a trained Crisis Volunteer who will chat with you by text.
- Young people can access free 24/7 support from NSPCC’s Childline on freephone: 08001111 or through their 1-2-1 counsellor chat on their website: https://www.childline.org.uk
- Older people can access 24/7 friendship and support via The Silver Line on freephone: 08004708090.

If you urgently need specialist advice, 24/7 crisis support or information, contact NHS 111 by calling: 111 (press 2), call: 999 or visit your local Accident and Emergency Department.

Unless stated otherwise, all of the above services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

It’s World Mental Health Day, and we’re finishing our wellbeing series with an important reminder: make time for you πŸ’™

Wellbeing Tip #9: Focus on Yourself πŸ’™

Looking after yourself is just as important as looking after the people around you. It’s about noticing what you need and giving yourself permission to put your wellbeing first sometimes.

You could try:
🌱 Starting with one small change
😊 Making time for things that bring you joy
πŸ’™ Setting healthy boundaries
⏰ Setting aside some time for yourself
πŸ“… Creating a routine that works for you

This World Mental Health Day, remember that your mental health matters every day.

Visit our website for more ideas on focusing on yourself, looking after your wellbeing and practising self-care: https://washingtonmind.org.uk/wellbeing-tips/

We’ll see you there πŸ’™

It’s World Mental Health Day 2026! πŸ’™

This year’s theme isβ€˜Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change’, recognising the importance of listening to people with lived experience and making sure their voices can help shape the decisions and services that affect their lives.

Today is also a chance to think about our own mental health, check in with those around us and remember that support is available. πŸ’™

As part of our World Mental Health Day series, this is Wellbeing Tip #8 πŸ’™

A little kindness can go a long way, for other people and for ourselves πŸ’™

Wellbeing Tip #8: Be Kind πŸ’™

One of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing is Give. Small acts of kindness can help us connect with others and support our own wellbeing too.

You could try:
🌟 Doing a small act of kindness for someone
πŸ’™ Showing care and compassion
🌱 Being kinder to yourself

Remember, kindness isn't only about what we do for others. Try to step away from comparing or judging yourself and remind yourself that you are enough.
