The Wolston Housing Needs Survey has now been launched on behalf of Wolston Parish Council. Surveys are being completed online at www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/Wolston25 but paper copies are available from the Parish Council or by contacting WRCC on 01789 842182 or emailing [email protected]

All responses are confidential.

Today I am at The Meriden Pavilion with North Warwickshire Citizens Advice's Mobile Advice Centre promoting the services provided by WRCC including our meals on wheels service, oil syndicate, volunteer minibus service and advice on affordable rural housing for local people.

Come along between 11am and 3pm and speak to me or the very friendly and helpful ladies from the CAB MAC who are offering support and guidance on all types of issues.

I am attending Southam Warm Space today to promote our rural housing enabler service along with all the other excellent services WRCC provide across the whole of Warwickshire including:

Community Food Fleet - Meals on wheels service,
Back and 4th - Our subsidised minibus service,
Plus Warm Hubs, Village Halls and our oil syndicate.

Anne and I from WRCC have been at the Money Advice Market this morning hosted by Rugby Library speaking to local residents about the services we offer across the whole of Warwickshire.

Money troubles often lead to poor mental and physical health so keep an eye out for future events to see what help is out there.

Affordable Rural Housing in Warwickshire: A Growing Crisis 🏡

It’s heartbreaking to see how many families, young professionals, and older residents are being priced out of the very communities they’ve called home for generations. In Warwickshire’s beautiful rural villages, affordable housing is becoming increasingly scarce, and the consequences are real.

🚫 Local workers can’t afford to live near their jobs
🚫 Young people are forced to move away
🚫 Aging residents face isolation without nearby support
🚫 Communities lose their vibrancy and diversity

We need more than just luxury developments and commuter estates. We need homes that are truly affordable, built with local needs in mind—not just market demand. That means supporting community-led housing initiatives, holding developers accountable, and pushing councils to prioritize sustainable, inclusive growth.

Great to see so many people attending todays kind communities kind food event. Lots of agencies promoting healthy lifestyles, energy efficiency advice and practical demonstrations.

WRCC will be supporting and attending this very worthwhile event on Tuesday 30 September between 11am and 3pm to encourage healthy lifestyles.

We will also be promoting the services our charity provides across the whole of Warwickshire, including:

B&4th: This is our modern wheelchair-friendly minibus service that any community or voluntary group in Warwickshire or Rugby can book at a subsidised rate.

Energy: We organise a heating oil buying syndicate to create collective purchasing power and keep prices at an affordable level for oil users across Warwickshire.

Halls: This is our advice and support service for running a village hall or similar community building.

Housing: We work with parishes to encourage rural communities to seize the initiative and get involved in the provision of new homes that respond to a housing need identified by the community and prioritised to local people.

Warm Hubs: We work with parish councils, village hall committees, community centres and other volunteer groups to create inclusive, community led Warm Hubs, running activities that encourage people to come together in safe, warm, welcoming places.

Community Food Fleet: We provide a not-for-profit 'Meals on Wheels' delivery service available every day of the year for a hot lunch.

🏡 I joined a brilliant online event last night on Glebe Land and Affordable Housing, hosted by the Church of England. Lots of inspiring ideas on how church land can help tackle the rural housing crisis.

Great to hear from experts and see real-life examples like Roxwell in Essex. It’s clear that with the right partnerships, we can make a real difference.
