Thinking of buying your child an e-scooter for Christmas?

Before you do, remember that privately owned e-scooters cannot currently be used on public roads, cycle paths or pavements in the UK. This means that many children may have nowhere legal or safe to ride them and the consequences of riding illegally could impact their future driving licence and insurance premiums.

E-scooters can travel at speeds that increase the risk of serious injury, particularly for younger riders who may not yet have the skills to react to hazards or judge risks.

This Christmas, make sure any gift helps keep your child safe and check the rules before you buy.
