Provisional figures for Warwickshire between 1 January and 31 July 2026 show that 19 people have been killed and 167 seriously injured on our roads.

These are not just statistics. They are real people with families, friends, colleagues and loved ones whose lives have been changed forever. They are people now living with loss, pain, fear and the challenges of a future they never expected.

Nineteen people left their homes and families to start a journey they never finished, never knowing that a simple "see you later" would be the last time their loved ones saw them.

Every collision has a ripple effect, impacting countless lives and leaving lasting consequences for entire communities.

Road crashes are not inevitable. Many are preventable. By slowing down, staying focused, avoiding distractions and making safe choices every time we travel, we can all play a part in preventing further tragedy.

Please take care on Warwickshire's roads. For yourself, for your loved ones, and for everyone around you.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ The school run doesn't have to start at the school gate.

If possible, consider: 🚢 Walking all or part of the journey 🚲 Cycling or scooting safely πŸš— Parking a short distance away and walking the rest

Fewer vehicles around schools means a safer environment for everyone. Set a good example to your children and keep them active and safe.

Members of the village Speed Watch Team were out undertaking speed checks on Church Road this afternoon.
During the session 115 vehicles passed us and 29 were speed checked. Unfortunately 2 vehicles were recorded travelling at speeds significantly above the road limit of 40mph.

We are pleased that the majority of vehicles were being driven responsibly but the 2 vehicles recorded at 48mph and 50mph is 2 vehicles too many, especially given that these speeds are being driven as they pass a children's play area. Details will be forwarded to the Police for follow up action.

Even, careful drivers don't always spot a motorbike. Research shows that drivers often fail to notice motorbikes because they are not expecting to see them. Our brains naturally look for things we encounter regularly, meaning motorcycles can be overlooked.

That's why, this summer, we’re asking drivers to at every junction and take an extra look. It could save a life.
