Warsash Residents' Association

Warsash Residents' Association The page of the Warsash Residents' Association It is independent of any political party. Our bank details are on the membership application form.

The Warsash Residents’ Association (WRA) was formed in 1932 and exists to ascertain the views of residents regarding matters of concern to the village and to speak on their behalf to local government and other organisations. We keep members up to date via emails, a monthly newsletter and members’ meetings held on the 3rd Wednesday evening of each month. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our members' m

eetings (held in the Victory Hall in Warsash) have been put on hold and may not resume for some time. Therefore, we are our moving the meetings online via Zoom, following the same format as the Victory Hall meetings. The first Zoom meeting, as a trial, will take place on 17 February 2021. To join the Zoom meeting, you need to be a member and new members are very much welcome. The annual subscription is £10 per household, or £5.00 for people living alone. To join the WRA you can contact the membership secretary, Werner Schoeffer, at [email protected], who will send you an application form via email or post. You should return the form with your contact details and subscription cheque to the membership secretary at:

69 Osborne Road, Warsash, Southampton, SO31 9GJ

or to the treasurer at: 102 Osborne Road, Warsash, Southampton. SO31 9GH

or take it to following drop off point (letterbox) at: Victory Hall, 27 Warsash Road, Warsash, Southampton. If you have a PC or tablet you can use internet banking, which is the easiest and quickest way to pay and our preferred method. You can also set up a yearly standing order; if you do this, please let us know. We represent our members in various ways, such as:

A respected voice to Fareham Borough Council and Hampshire County Council through our local councillors

BROOK LANE CLOSURE / X5 BUS

Southern Gas have work planned for the bottom end of Warsash Road just south of the junction with Thornton Ave / Crofton Way. This will take place between 30 March and 10 April and will involve Brook Lane being closed at this point and between these dates. This is for the laying of new gas pipes.

Residents and businesses have been informed I'm told by SGN. The diversionary route for both traffic and the X5 is via Lockswood Road, Peters Road, Brook Lane and for the X5, back on route at Barnes Lane (and in reverse).

This will mean that users will not be able to access / leave the X5 at the bus stops between Lockswood Road, through Warsash Village and up to Barnes Lane.

This will be a huge inconvenience, and I have spoken with First Bus but whilst the closure is in place, they have no alternative than to re-route the X5 service.

Those drivers wishing to access, Crofton Way, Thornton Ave, Mariners Way or the shore from south of the closure, will need to do so via Shore Road. This is far from perfect as the allowance of parking on Shore Road does not end until 2 days later 1 April. I have asked if the works can be put back by 2 days until 1 April to alleviate problems on Shore Road. I will post any updates.
