📱 Volunteer Spotlight – The Garden Gang Warrington 📱

Up next for our volunteer spotlight......We’d like to say a huge thank you to the teams from EE Warrington Contact Centre who have supported VIP over the past few years by volunteering their time to help maintain and refresh The Old School. Their efforts behind the scenes make a real difference to our members and staff every day. 💙

We are always keen to work with more local businesses and corporate partners. If your team would like to get involved and support VIP through volunteering or sponsorship, we’d love to hear from you, please get in touch to find out how you can help.

Our next Volunteer Spotlight is Wendy!

Wendy helps set up for our Thursday Lunch Club, is always happy to lend a hand with the tidy-up afterwards, and regularly volunteers at our community events.

Her kindness, enthusiasm, and willingness to help make a real difference to VIP and our members.

Would you like to be more like Wendy?

We'd love to hear from you and tell you more about our volunteering opportunities.

Our next Volunteer Spotlight is Dave, who has been volunteering with VIP for 3 years.

After seeing first-hand how a lack of volunteer drivers can affect access to support, he was inspired to give back to his local community. Thanks to volunteers like Dave, our members can continue to access the services, friendships, and support that mean so much to them.

Interested in making a difference? Get in touch to find out more about joining our volunteer team.

Next in our Volunteer Spotlight series is Dave, who joined VIP 18 months ago after being inspired or as Dave puts it "hoodwinked" by his sister Janet's long-standing involvement with the charity.

Dave's story shows how volunteering can connect us to something bigger than ourselves while making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Thank you, Dave, for being part of the VIP family.

🌟 The Impact of Our Volunteers 🌟

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Their time, kindness, and dedication help reduce isolation, build confidence, and ensure that people with visual impairments can continue to access friendship, support, and activities within their community.

We're currently looking for Drivers and Passenger Assistants to join our volunteer team on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week, as well as the first and second Wednesday of every month. Your support can make a real difference to someone's day.

All volunteers receive training and ongoing support, along with the opportunity to be part of a welcoming and rewarding community. As a thank you for their commitment, volunteers are invited to our annual Volunteer Appreciation Evening, where the roles are reversed and our volunteers are treated to a three-course meal. The evening also includes our Volunteer of the Year Award and provides a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together, catch up, and celebrate their achievements.

If you'd like to make a difference in your local community and join our amazing team, we'd love to hear from you. 💙

🌟 National Volunteers’ Week Spotlight: Lisa 🌟

This National Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the incredible people who give their time to support VIP and our visually impaired community.

We offer a variety of volunteering roles, all of which make a real difference, and our first volunteer spotlight of the week goes to Lisa, who has been a valued member of the VIP family for the past 4 years.

This week, our new cook Pat starts!

Our VIPs have thoroughly enjoyed Fiona and Vicky’s Lunch Club meals, but they’re a little… okay, a lot… excited about handing the cooking duties back to someone else!

While members were enjoying a trip to the pub last week, trustee and volunteer Fred rolled up his sleeves and gave the kitchen a much-needed refresh in preparation for Pat’s arrival. The pale yellow walls are gone, replaced with a stunning bright white that has given the kitchen a fresh, clean new look.

A huge thank you to Fred for all his hard work, and to Dulux in Bewsey for kindly donating the paint. We’re all set and ready to welcome Pat to the team!
