Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has been banned from driving for six months after she was caught speeding in her Audi S3, according to British news outlets.

The 35-year-old star, who played Hermione Granger in the film franchise, drove 38 mph in a 30 mph zone in Oxford, England, on July 31 last year, BBC reported. The offense was caught on a speed camera on a restricted road in the city.

Happy Mother’s Day to Every Mum in Our Movement

Today, I want to send love and solidarity to every mum in the trade union movement—those raising families while raising their voices for fairness at work.

Whether you’re negotiating contracts on the shop floor, supporting members as a rep, or juggling caring responsibilities alongside your union activism—you are the backbone of our movement.

Being a mum in today’s world means showing up with strength, care and resilience, every single day. And in Usdaw, we see that in action across workplaces, branches and campaigns—mums making a difference not just for their own families, but for thousands of others too.

Thank you for everything you do. You inspire us, lead us, and remind us what solidarity really looks like.

Have a restful, joyful, and proud Mother’s Day—you deserve it.

With love and respect,
Amanda

🎥 Conference Update from Amanda – North West TUC 2025

Hi everyone, it was great to be part of Usdaw’s delegation to the North West TUC Conference in Blackpool yesterday.

From debates on tackling the far right to demanding action to make work pay, it was a powerful reminder of what trade union solidarity looks like when we come together across sectors, workplaces and communities.

I was proud to stand alongside our brilliant reps and activists—Trish Elder, who moved Usdaw’s successful motion on training and skills, and Matt Fairlie and Lynne Goodwin, who represented our Trade Councils so well.

The conference also heard from inspiring speakers including Kate Bell from the TUC and Justin Madders MP, making the case for stronger rights and fairer workplaces.

Conferences like this are about building the future of our movement—and Usdaw must be leading that fight.

Thank you to everyone who spoke up, took part and made it such a strong show of unity.

Let’s keep organising, keep pushing for change—and keep making our members’ voices heard.

📍 At the North West TUC Conference – Blackpool 2025

It was great to attend today’s North West TUC Conference at the Grand in Blackpool as part of Usdaw’s delegation alongside Matt Johnson and Trish Elder. We were also proud to be joined by Matt Fairlie and Lynne Goodwin, representing our trade councils and flying the flag for Usdaw reps in the wider movement.

We heard powerful contributions in two key debates:

✊ Tackling the Far Right – with guest speakers Nick Lowles (Hope Not Hate) and Jawad Khan (TUC), who reminded us that defending democracy and fighting hate is core union business.
💷 Make Work Pay – with Justin Madders MP and Kate Bell, TUC Assistant General Secretary, calling for stronger rights, better pay, and real security for working people.

The conference was opened by Lorraine Beavers MP, who gave a passionate speech on standing up for our region and working-class communities.

And we were proud to see Usdaw’s own motion on Training and Skills, moved by Trish Elder, Chair of NW Regional Council—carried with full support.

A fantastic day of solidarity, debate, and clear purpose. The trade union movement is united and ready to deliver change.
