Join as a cadet...

So, are you ready to take the first step towards all the opportunities and benefits that the air cadets can offer you? It's important to know that we're not a recruiting organisation for the Services (but it's great if you decide you want to join later on). We're not interested in anything but you and your potential, and will help you get the most from your experience as a cadet. Equality is a central part of the Air Cadets’ ethic. The cadet experience is open to everyone, so whatever your nationality, background or ability, whether you're male or female, if you're between 13 and 17 years old you can join us. The maximum age for entry is 17 years old, therefore you can request to join us anytime between your 13th and 18th birthday. If you don't fit into that age group and still want to enjoy all of our activities and more, you could join as a volunteer. Aside from flying, sports, target shooting, adventure training and great fun? You’ll soon find that being an air cadet is its own reward - you constantly see the benefits of your own efforts, building on your achievements and earning BTECs and DoE Awards. You'll be expected to take part in as many of the activities we run as possible, but with what's on offer you won't need much persuading! We have high standards to maintain as we are a 'military' youth organisation and you'll naturally take pride in your uniform (we supply that) and appearance. You'll be well mannered and self-disciplined. You'll be joining an organisation of which you’ll be very proud. What are you waiting for???

Supporting National Cadets Week

is a UK-wide celebration of the cadet movement, held from 5 to 11 October 2026. It was launched by the Ministry of Defence to recognise the positive impact that cadets and adult volunteers have on young people and communities across the country.

Cheshire Police is proud to recognise the incredible contribution made by cadet organisations across Cheshire and the dedicated volunteers who help inspire the next generation.

Pictured is 1330 Warrington Squadron Air Training Corps - Royal Air Force Air Cadets , based at the Army Reserve Centre in Warrington. Run entirely by a team of committed volunteer staff, known as Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers (CFAVs), the squadron provides young people with opportunities that many will remember for a lifetime.

From adventure training, rock climbing and gorge walking, to sports, flying and aviation experiences, ceremonial duties, community projects, leadership training, educational visits and international trips, Royal Air Force Air Cadets develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, and life skills while having fun and making new friends.

Cheshire Police is proud of its commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, recognising the valuable role that serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and cadet force volunteers play within our communities. Among our workforce is a Warrington-based officer who volunteers as a CFAV with 1330 Squadron, one of eight Cheshire Police employees who give their time to support cadet forces across the county.

The dedication of the staff and cadets at 1330 Squadron was recognised in 2025 when the unit was named the best RAF Air Cadet squadron in the North of England - a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work, enthusiasm and commitment shown by everyone involved.

Thank you to all cadets and volunteers for the positive impact you have on young people and our communities.

Today, National Cadets Week is celebrating the thousands of Cadet Force Adult Volunteers who give their time to support, inspire and provide opportunities for young people across the country.

At 1330, we are incredibly fortunate to have a fantastic team of volunteers who give up their evenings, weekends and much more for our cadets.

One of those is Flight Sergeant Warburton, who recently led from the front in a slightly different way by taking on Mount Kilimanjaro with four friends.

The team spent six days climbing the Rongai Route to the summit, raising an incredible amount for Mamatoto, a charity supporting women and children in Tanzania.

Our staff spend so much of their time encouraging our cadets to challenge themselves, step outside their comfort zones and make a difference. FS Warburton certainly demonstrated those values himself.

A huge well done from everyone at 1330, an incredible achievement and a brilliant example to our cadets.

Today, and throughout National Cadets Week, we say thank you to all our volunteers who make everything we do at 1330 possible.

“Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.”

Yesterday, 1330 (Warrington) Squadron held our annual Battle of Britain Service, coming together to remember the courage and sacrifice of those who defended our skies during the summer of 1940.

We were honoured to be joined by the Mayor of Warrington, alongside members of our community and Warrington Sea Cadets, as our cadets took part in readings, music and acts of remembrance.

For us, the Battle of Britain is an important part of our annual calendar. As RAF Air Cadets, it is our responsibility to ensure the bravery of The Few, and all those who served and sacrificed during the Battle, is remembered by the generations that follow.

We are incredibly proud of every cadet who took part and represented 1330 with the standards and respect the occasion deserves.

We will remember them.

This weekend, we were in London, giving our cadets another packed weekend of history, heritage, remembrance and some fantastic experiences along the way.

We started at the RAF Museum, exploring more than a century of aviation and the RAF’s history, before heading into central London for a tour of the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace.

Our cadets then had the honour of laying a wreath at the Bomber Command Memorial, remembering the courage and sacrifice of those who served with Bomber Command during the Second World War.

There was also plenty of fun, with a journey through some of the darker chapters of the capital’s history at the London Dungeon, before exploring nearly 1,000 years of history at the Tower of London.

We finished with one of the highlights of the weekend, spending the night on board HMS Belfast, giving our cadets the unforgettable experience of sleeping aboard one of Britain’s most famous historic warships.

Another brilliant weekend for 1330, packed with experiences and memories our cadets will carry with them for years to come. A huge thank you to our staff team for giving up their weekend to make opportunities like this possible.

Yesterday, our cadets enjoyed a fantastic day out at Alton Towers. It was a brilliant opportunity for cadets to relax, spend time together, and create more great memories outside of the Squadron.

Days like these are an important part of the cadet experience, rewarding our young people for their hard work and commitment throughout the year.

A huge thank you to our staff and volunteers for giving up their time to make the trip possible.

On Thursday night, 1330 (Warrington) Squadron once again transformed into a field kitchen as our cadets took on the annual Mess Tin Master Chef Challenge.

Working in teams, cadets put their culinary skills to the test, creating a three-course meal using nothing more than mess tins, portable stoves, and plenty of creativity. With strict time limits and the watchful eyes of the top table judges, the pressure was certainly on!

The standard this year was exceptional, with imaginative menus, excellent teamwork, and some incredibly impressive dishes making the judging no easy task.

A huge congratulations to every cadet who took part and embraced the challenge, and a special well done to this year’s winners. Thank you also to our judges, who had the difficult task of deciding between some outstanding entries.
