This weekend we cut back all the tree growth in our wildflower meadow. This is a yearly task we need to do to prevent our wonderful meadow turning into a woodland. Around 50% of the orginal meadow from 1991 is now woodland. We made the decision to last year to let that go and concentrate efforts on the other 50% as without any help from Warrington Borough Council we just can't manage it. A run over with flail mower once a year would do the trick 🤷‍♂️

Claiming our meadow back is going well, pretty much all felling is done. Just a big tidy up and stacking of all the cuttings left. If anyone has a spare hour feel free to move some onto the dead hedges, it would be much appreciated 😁

We can't wait for summer, to see the meadow back how it was 20years ago...

A huge thank you to anyone who has helped 👍

Note for Volunteers : All trees within the current work area not to be cut have been marked this morning, anything with a red flag is to stay. The aerial photo shows the work area boundary in red, location of the dead hedge in blue and the area for all cuttings to be put ready for the making of the dead hedge is the black box.

Here is a link to a folding saw that we recommend to anyone wishing to help.
