It's time for Friday Thank Yous! The urgent appeal for our Thriving Families has attracted another £11,200 of donations this week. Thank you to the ForCheshireWest Fund for the £5,000 contribution. We are also grateful to our Chair for her donation from the Tabley Fund, and to the many private donors who have contributed to this much-needed appeal anonymously.

Did you know… nearly 1 in 4 children in Cheshire West and Chester are living in relative poverty? Pressures on families are constantly building, and when these are layered with mental health challenges, issues with school or relationship pressures, things fall apart.

Thriving Families is the programme that de-escalates these building difficulties. By supporting families in their own home, providing advice, pathways and opportunities to manage and curb rising problems.

Our Thriving Families totaliser has reached 80%! Thank you to each and every organisation who has donated to our programme helping families in Cheshire West avoid crisis.
We still have £235,482 to raise. Share this post with anyone you think can help, large or small. Hundreds of families have benefited from this programme and 9 in 10 are helped away from any kind of statutory intervention. It's really working, and we'd love to help hundreds more in 2027.

Parents know, there's no tougher job out there. When pressures pile up, seeking help can feel daunting. Alongside home support, local drop-in support sessions are available through Thriving Families. For two years these groups have been creating safe and welcoming spaces for parents to seek advice and meet friendly faces. They can feel like a lifeline when times are tough, so we need your help to enable them for a third year.

Parents under pressure need to really trust those they open up to. They also need that help to be free of charge, and expert. We want to carry on providing that in 2027.
Thriving Families is delivered by two local specialist partners, Koala North West & Home-Start Warrington and Cheshire. Families receive in-home support, offering vital guidance and advice, helping them cope with everyday struggles and build positive home environments.

Families of all ages and sizes could require support, anything from school attendance, financial difficulty and mental health to disabilities and diagnosis. Practical and valuable support is invaluable to help a family go from surviving to thriving.

Across Cheshire West and Chester, families are facing mounting challenges. 30% of children aged 0 to 15 are living in relative poverty, and 20% of students were persistently absent from school in the 2022 to 2023 academic year.

Referrals keep rising. In the first half of this year alone, our delivery partners have already begun supporting more than 110 additional families. Thriving Families works alongside Cheshire West and Chester Council to make sure early help reaches the people who need it. With your support, Thriving Families can reach more families. £300,000 to raise, 9 weeks to make the difference.
