Warrington Freemasons

Warrington Freemasons The Official page of the Warrington Masonic Group. The Warrington Masonic Group is part of the Provincial Grand Lodge of West Lancashire.

The Province of West Lancashire is not only the largest of the Provinces ranged under the banner of the United Grand Lodge of England but can also claim to be the birthplace of English Freemasonry. The initiation of Elias Ashmole in Warrington on 16 October 1646 is the earliest recorded initiation into English Freemasonry. All trace of that early Lancashire lodge, if indeed such a lodge existed an

d was not merely an ad hoc meeting of conveniently situated Freemasons, has disappeared. The oldest of the existing lodges in the province is the Lodge of Loyalty No 86 in Prescot which dates from 1753 and still meets on the Wednesday before a full moon, although the brethren, of course, can no longer rely on their horses to see them safely home in the moonlight. The Province was founded as Lancashire Western Division in 1826, becoming the Province of West Lancashire in 1960. It covers that part of the ancient county of Lancashire west of the Great North Road (A6) but includes Preston and Lancaster. It extends from the Lake District to the River Mersey and from Liverpool into the suburbs of Manchester. Its lodges now meet in five counties – Lancashire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire

Tonight, brethren from the Warrington Group in the Province of West Lancashire
travelled a short distance across to Runcorn to Beacon Lodge No. 5357 in the Province of Cheshire supporting Bro Craig Hands, who is a member of both provinces to see the initiation of Bro Wes Le-Cheminant. It was great to see other distinguished guests from West Lancashire , WBro Andy Whittle, WBro John Murphy and WBro David Readhead amongst the guests of the evening.

We witnessed a fantastic ceremony and credit to all the officers who took place.

The evening continued downstairs with a ‘Chippy Tea’ and a raffle

Tonight, Lodge of Great Endeavour No. 3597 welcomed Bro. Charlie Ford into Freemasonry — a moment made all the more memorable by the unique family connection at its heart.

In a touching and rarely seen occasion, the ceremony was conducted by his father, the Worshipful Master, WBro Martin Ford, who had the honour of initiating his own son into the Craft. The sense of pride within the lodge room was unmistakable as father and son shared this milestone together.

WBro Chris Cullen guided the candidate around the lodge with confidence and clarity, while WBro Charles Carr delivered the ceremony with dignity and precision, ensuring the evening was both meaningful and memorable for all present.

Adding to the atmosphere, the lodge was delighted to welcome a number of visiting Entered Apprentices who attended to witness the ceremony. Their presence not only strengthened the fraternal bonds between lodges but also offered Bro. Charlie a warm and encouraging start to his Masonic journey.

The brethren of Lodge of Great Endeavour look forward to supporting Bro. Charlie as he takes his first steps in Freemasonry and wish him every success in the years ahead.

Dear all,

On Sunday, May 17th, I'm taking part in a Distinguished Gentleman's Motorbike Ride (DGR) with the West Lancs Masonic Widows Sons, riding from Darwen Market Square to Blackpool Tower. The 10+ of us will be part of 300+ gentlemen taking part. I've got all my gentleman's tweeds, cap, and dickie bow ready to go. (Photos to follow after the event).

Last year, the West Lancs DGR raised £20k on that day for Prostate Cancer Research and Men's Mental Health and Su***de Prevention, both very worthy causes. Last year, the West Lancs Masonic Widows Sons raised £1,432, and this year we are aiming for £1,433.

Tonight at Warrington Masonic Hall, Travellers Lodge No.4679 initiated Ian Straker into Freemasonry.

WBro Bill Wainwright stepped in for the Worshipful Master, WBro Eric Miller who was away on holiday. The ceremony was even more special for Ian as his friend Garry Simcock who introduced him into Freemasonry was also part of the ceremony, presented him with his white gloves.
