Emily has appeared for us before as part of a piano four hands duo and also duetting with a cellist, but she returns with a lovely programme for solo piano!

📣📣 Calling parents and grandparents - do you know of any children who would be interested in joining Warrington Youth Orchestra? 🎻🎺🎷

🎼 Do you know a child who plays an orchestral instrument? 🎶

We’re looking for existing players to come along and try out our symphony and chamber orchestras at Warrington Youth Orchestra!

We’re currently recruiting children and young people who are playing at a grade 3+ level (formal exams are not necessary) and we don’t require auditions.

No previous experience of playing in an orchestra is necessary other than their own instrumental skills. It’s a great chance to meet some other young musicians and find out what playing in an orchestra is all about.

Our players are approximately 7–20 years old and we’re a friendly, welcoming orchestra with opportunities to perform and make new friends along the way.

Our thanks to our wonderful musicians today! We are constantly amazed by the talent of the young musicians who perform for us!

Alvin (saxaphone), Johanna (clarinet) and Anna (piano) thrilled and amazed us with their virtuosity and presented a completely different take on familiar composers, Bach and Poulenc, plus others.

Alvin had made a great job of arranging all the music for the trio - Bach was a revelation and Poulenc, an adventure! It was a joy to listen to.

The musicians made hitting every note with precision, sculpting every phrase with perfection, whilst at the same time bringing out the wonderful harmonies, seem effortless!

A virtuosic encore with Hungarian folk dancing rhythms sounded like a competition between the instruments - it would be hard to say who won - they all excelled!

Anna was a wonderful accompanist almost a conductor - keeping the three together! Just super!

It was a real treat to be in our audience!

Next week’s concert features Tricolor Trio! This is a clarinet, saxaphone and piano trio, so a first for us!

We look forward to welcoming back Joanna and meeting Alvin and Anna, for a concert full of promise, with music arranged for the trio, from Bach, Poulenc and Yamash*ta!

A big thankyou to Sophie Iliaifar and Tsukushi Mitsuda for an inspired and very enjoyable concert today. Bravi 👏

A varied concert, with lots of musical styles and composers. Thankfully, Britten’s ‘Charm of Lullabies’ didn’t work, as everyone’s concentration was squarely on the music!

Sophie delivered an impressive performance showing a full range of expression, emotion and displaying her splendid vocal talents.

Sophie’s super, strong, vocal performance, delivered securely in the highest and lowest ranges and was complemented wonderfully, by Tsukushi’s pinpoint piano playing!

Tsukushi praised our piano - we are so fortunate to have such a beloved instrument, all our pianists say what a delight it is to play. It’s one thing having a ‘grand’ grand piano - it’s another making it sound so good!

What a way to spend Saturday afternoon, sharing the company of friends and fellow music lovers, sun streaming through stained glass windows and listening to such super young musicians!

For those of you that love listening to Pip Clarke play violin - I thought I’d share this news about an evening concert just off Wilderspool Causeway - it looks like a great night!

Never been to a Warrington Male Voice Choir concert?
Come and see what you've been missing!
On Saturday 10th October, St James Church will be full of music. The choir is joined by violinist Pippa Clarke, for an evening of songs you'll know and a few you'll fall in love with.
Expect songs like The Wellerman, Georgia on My Mind, Ave Maria, Fix You and Viva la Vida, plus a few surprises.
Some of it is the choir on its own, some is Pippa's violin, and there are a couple of moments where they join forces!
The doors open at 6.45pm, so there's plenty of time to find a good seat and say hello. Then it all starts at 7.30pm.
You don't need to know anything about choral music.
Just come along and enjoy it.

Our thanks to Luke Jones for a superb concert to start our new series!

Comments ranged from ‘I’d swear it was impossible, but I saw it’ to ‘The ‘Raindrop’ prelude was my Dad’s favourite. It brought back so many happy memories, I was welling up’ and ‘His performance was full of colour and personality’

The 24 Preludes by Chopin - a ‘smorgasbord’ of emotions and character. Luke transitioned effortlessly from tender to tumultuous! A wonderful performance appreciated and enjoyed by our audience.

I think Luke’s first performance for WACIDOM was when he was in his early days at Chetham’s School of Music. It was lovely to welcome him back again. We are blessed with the support of some great musicians and we are grateful!

It’s good to be back 🥰
