Archery and Crossbow Taster Session opportunity for all Team Members and Trustee Board members

This an open invite to all our team members in whichever session you volunteer with as well as your Trustee team members in Warrington East and we hope that you would like to attend

Never had a go but you would like to have a try then the first taster session of the year for having a go at either Archery or using a Crossbow is being held at the 3rd Culcheth Scout Headquarters on Sunday 8th February 2026 is being run for your enjoyment from 1.30pm - 4pm on the above date

This is free of charge and places are limited to 16 in total

There is no cost to you to participate but please let me know on

This a chance for you to try a sport that you may have never participated in and we look forward to meeting you there. It is also a chance for you to find out what Target Sports Warrington East has to offer the members of your Cubs, Scouts or Explorer Sections as well as giving Team Members advice on the types of permit that are available to our Team Members if they wish to go along this route

If your Scouts or Explorers are interested in attending our last Shooting Club Meeting on Thursday 11th December which is being held at Glazebury Scout HQ, then they need to book a place by contacting me on this email address;

Cost is £3.50 cash only per person and their parents/guardians will need to complete a permission form on arrival. We can only take a maximum number of 24

This will be a Xmas Jumper evening for anybody who wants to get into the Christmas mood

YPS Tutors courses Autumn 2025

South West Cheshire Scouts may still have places available on the National Small-Bore Rifle Association YPS tutors’ courses for Autumn 2025.


If anyone is interested, please get in touch. These courses are recognised by scouting as a qualification to allow leaders to safely run the relevant activity with scouts. All will be held at Milldale camp site Nantwich Cheshire.


No previous experience or qualifications are required, other than for the one-day pistol course.

YPS Tutor (Crossbow) 1st and 2nd of November. This is a two-day course that allows leaders to safely run cross bow shooting with scouts. Cost £80.00


YPS Tutor (Rifle) 29th and 30th November. This is a two-day course that allows leaders to safely run air rifle shooting with scouts. Cost £80.00

YPS Tutor (Pistol) Sunday 7th December. This is a one-day course, and all attendees must already hold the YPS tutors’ certificate for rifle and must have regularly carried out shooting instruction with groups of people. Cost £60.00

Target Sports Warrington East upcoming event information
Please note that we have had to cancel our session on Wednesday 10th September 2025 in advance as we are unable to provide the number of permit holders we would like to to run this event

HOWEVER;
We will be running rifle shooting only at the Oaks near Culcheth on Sunday 14th September from 1.30pm -3.30pm for Scouts and Explorer Section members 10.5 -17 year olds. Cost is £3.50 Cash Only payable on the day. Permission forms will be available on the day. Please share this information with your Scouts and Explorers please

When visiting an AGM recently I took my campfire blanket to show to the young people to inspire them with stories of what I have enjoyed in Scouting .

Afterwards some of the young people with their parents spoke to me about how they liked to collect badges. I said that to help them with their pastime I would find some badges for them to be sewn on their blankets.

They also can with their parents support join the International Badgers Club and this is a good way to add to and build their collections. This may be of interest to others

UPCOMING TARGET SPORTS SESSIONS THIS WEEKEND FOR SCOUTS AND EXPLORERS

We have an Indoor Archery evening this Friday night 18th July and I still have a small number of places available. Please let your Scouts and Explorers know as they would need to book a place through me on [email protected] Cost is £3.50 cash on arrival

This coming Sunday 20th July afternoon at the Oaks near Culcheth; Target Sports have a Archery or Rifle Shooting session. Cost is £3.50 Cash on arrival to do both activities. A Permission form signed by your Parent/Guardian is required prior to starting for Rifle Shooting. These will be available on the afternoon.
