It's official, Ashwood Care Centre is proud to be a Veteran Friendly Care Home!

The aim of the Veteran Friendly Framework is to better support the practical, emotional and social needs of the Armed Forces community, in residential care homes across England, by providing training and resources to assess and improve the care they offer. It will help tackle loneliness and has the scope to deliver improved health and wellbeing outcomes for the 25,000 veterans living in care homes in England.

This morning residents created fresh flower arrangements for the house using different autumnal shades and pumpkins.

Did you know that flower arranging boosts your mood? The colors, textures, and scents of flowers trigger happy hormones like serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin, lowering feelings of depression and anxiety. No wonder it is a favourite with our residents! 💐

Harvest festival celebrations 🌾🚜

Over the coming week we have some activities to mark the autumn and harvest festival.

As part of this, we are accepting donations for Warminster Food Bank, who support over 200 families weekly. If you can donate, our collection is just in our front door so you can drop anything off as you visit your loved ones.

Here is a list of foods that the food bank accepts along with products they have an urgent need for.

You are a truly inspirational leader who brings people together, empowers those around you and always puts people at the heart of everything. Your leadership makes a real difference every single day and this recognition is a wonderful reflection of the amazing person and leader you are. 🌟

Falls Prevention Awareness Week;

This week we are showing you how Ashwood's team all work together to help prevent falls for our residents.

The national council on aging has 6 recommendations to help prevent falls;

6. Talk to your family members (or those who care for you!)

This one is covered by all of us! Talking about worries and concerns can help everyone to be more aware and put the right interventions in place to prevent falls.

We often check in with our residents over a cup of tea and cake, ask how everyone is and ensure that residents always have time to discuss any worries about their wellbeing. 🫖🍰

Talking is a small action that we can all take to keep our aging loved ones safe! 🗨️
