It’s Cervical Screening Awareness Week (15–21 June 2026).

The HPV vaccine protects against several types of HPV that can cause cancer but it doesn’t protect against them all. So even if you've had the HPV vaccine, it's still important to go for cervical screening (smear test).

It is the best way to find out if someone is at risk of cervical cancer.

Men’s Health Week UK: 15-21 June 2026

According to the BUPA Wellbeing Index "50% of men have struggled with mental health difficulties at some point, yet fewer than half have sought medical advice". This is why we are encouraging everyone to raise awareness of mental health, address the stigma that surrounds it, and support our colleagues, friends and family before they reach crisis point.

Men’s Health Week runs from June 15 to 21. The 2026 campaign champions the role of local pharmacies, and provides a platform to address the fact that one in five men dies before age 65. It is an essential push to break the stigma around physical and mental wellbeing.

What is National Cancer Survivors Day?

Held on the first Sunday in June, National Cancer Survivors Day is a celebration for all those who have been diagnosed with cancer and, following treatment, have been given the all clear.

It is a day that is celebrated around the world and a chance to reflect on what cancer patients endure and the effect on their families. It’s also an opportunity to thank the doctors, researchers, fundraisers, and donors who make survival possible.

Open Door Warminster is proud to support this awareness day. Join us in celebrating survivors and supporting those still on their journey.

Donate or fundraise via our website https://opendoorwarminster.org/donations/
to help us continue Cancer Support Cafés.

We meet on the first and third Friday of every month, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at The Athenaeum. We're here for you.
